Waitlist ?

I just added on 3 days to our vacation and we are waitlistted for Saratoga Springs. We have OKW right now, which is Ok, but I'd rather not have to move all our stuff if we don't have to. I'm just wondering what your waitlist experience is like. Do they come through often? We're just about a month away. TIA

Depends on many things....

Busy time of the year? If you're a month away then you're going during Food & Wine so that's a busy DVC time. Lowers your chances.

Waitlisted Day-by-day or Length of Stay? If you waitlisted for the entire stay then that lowers your chances. If you go day-by-day then there's probably a better chance. BUT if you go day-by-day then you might get the 2nd day and therefore have to move multiple times. Of course - if you have the points available you'd be smart to waitlist day-by-day and add those days BUT not cancel your SSR days until you have all of them. Of course - you need to consider cancelation deadlines and use year deadlines and banking and borrowing and ...it can be confusing.

Call Them Again? As you approach the 30 day deadline other people may be cancelling - so call them. We had a waitlist for Friday Nov 10 come through yesterday. That's a busy weekend (F&W last weekend, Super Soap, etc.). But - we called and asked about it and lo and behold something was available. You hear about those things frequently hear. I'd call everyday if you can - just to ask - only takes a minute or two if you call after lunch.

We've had waitlists for Dec 18-22 at BCV come through for length of stay. We're dreaming about a New Year's Eve waitlist. So who knows...

I did the length of stay waitlist. Our SSR ressie was for 17-25. I called this morning to add 14-16. The 14th and 16th were available but the 15th wasn't. Like you said, I didn't want to move multiple times, so I opted for the all or nothing approach with the added days. I also authorized for theem to automatically book if it becomes available. She told me it would do up up til 7 days before the vacation starts. Within that 7 days period I will have to call and ask. You are also very right about it being confusing. This wil be our first vacation being DVC members so I'm still not totally sure of the whole thing. I figured the worst that will happen is we'll get to stay at OKW for a couple of days and then at least we're right across the way from SSR.

I'm sure a split stay would be fine and if that's all the hassle you want to deal with then relax and enjoy your vacation. However, understand that "Automatically booking" a length of stay visit during a busy time is probably "iffy". It seems a call every couple days results in better luck.

Enjoy your trip. We'll be in SSR from Nov 10-14. Let's hope for BEAUTIFUL WEATHER and small crowds!

We're off to a good start with the EAGLES right? Maybe now that T.O. is gone, we can actually concentrate on the game again.

Anyway, OKW is what we have now. We are waitlisted for those 3 days for SSR, which is where the rest of our stay will be. I will definitely know what I get.

Don't forget to check the DVC member website. We had the automatic booking with our waitlist for SSR 10/28 & 10/29 and I didn't receive any call, but it does show up as changed on the website. Good luck.

Oh thanks, I did ask her how we would know if it came through and she said they would send confirmation. i neglected to ask how though. Mail, email, etc. So I will keep checking the website. Thanks

Why are you waitlisted for the 16th? Why not just start your SSR stay on the 16th after 2 nights at OKW if the 14 & 15 don't come thru? The fewer nights you are waitlisted for, the more likely they are to come thru.

Successful waitlists show up on the DVC website when you click on My DVC, then Points and then View Vacation Details.

Why are you waitlisted for the 16th? Why not just start your SSR stay on the 16th after 2 nights at OKW if the 14 & 15 don't come thru? The fewer nights you are waitlisted for, the more likely they are to come thru.

Thanks for the website info. We are waitlisted for SSr 14-16. We are booked for OKW 14-16 in case SSr dosen't come through for us. Out of the 14th, 15th, and 16th, the 15th was the only night not available, but I chose to waitlist the whole time together b/c if that one night wasn't available, then I'd rather just stay at OKW 14-16. I hope that makes more sense.

I checked on the website this morning and we are listed as SSR for both parts of the trip . I guess we'll see OKW on another trip. We're very happy, I didn't think it would come through this quickly.
