Waitlist vs. checking frequently

With the new waitlist rules I know I am limited to two waitlists (which I've put in and have on-going). However, is there anything to stop me from calling frequently (not necessarily every day . . . .don't have time) to check to see if there is availability at one of the other resorts/room types that I would have liked to have waitlisted but couldn't because of the new rule?

I am taking a solo trip in late March/early April and really wanted to stay at a resort other than my home resort of SSR just to try something new. It's a long, complicated story, but I had a reservation at BWV, and ended up cancelling it, but now would love to have it back. (Thanks DVC for not having your incentive programs clearly in place--if you had put your incentive programs clearly in place at the beginning of the founding member's sale period and/or announced the cruise incentive for GCV two days earlier I wouldn't be in this situation.) Of course, when I called back only availability for my dates (airfare booked) was SSR. I like SSR--and will gladly stay there--but really wanted to something different this trip.

I think a lot of members will be increasing the amount they call to check, I call even if I do have a waitlist to see if I can pick up a “partial”. I try to keep it down to once or twice a week unless there is a reason that an exceptional number of rooms might be changed (like the 7 month window or like the 22nd when 2 new resorts are opening up to the full membership).

I would think the other "hot" time to call would be 30-31 days from arrival date--because people will be cancelling at that point?

I did call MS and they said it was fine to call--of course, my dates weren't available . . . . .

I'm in that same exact mode right now. I need to add a studio to an existing one-bedroom reservation...it could be at either BCV or BWV, any view...sadly, I can't waitlist day-by-day, and I can't waitlist all of BWV, because the 3 different views are three different booking categories.

So, I call as frequently as time allows...so far, no availability. Some CMs are really nice and advise me to call back each day (or as often as I can). Others point out that I already have two waitlists working (but agree with me when I point out that other options are possible that I cannot waitlist for because of the two-waitlist rule, and that multiple days together are far less likely than single days)...so far, tho, no one has suggested that I can't or shouldn't make as many calls as I have time to make. Some CMs have even advised me to do so.

My situation is not so bad...I have five people in a BCV one-bedroom (no, this isn't an occupancy post, just a piece of background fact)...we want to spread out a bit, so a studio in the Epcot area would be great--even if it's not for all five nights...one night, two nights, every other night--anything would be an improvement for sleeping...for awake time, we won't be in the villa much anyway...we're taking people who've never been to WDW before, so we'll be in the parks. Plus, they're college kids, so they'll love hanging out at the beach or on the Boardwalk...it's just sleeping time/space that's an issue. So any extra night in a studio will be wonderful. It'll mean one night when someone doesn't have to sleep on the floor. So I really wish I could waitlist each of the five nights separately, at BCV or any of the 3 views at BWV, but the rules won't let me. So my only choices are to give up or call and take my chances.

I refuse to feel guilty about calling. I'm not hurting anyone. The people who answer the phones are there anyway. And I wouldn't have to be making these calls if they'd let me waitlist the five nights separately. Now, I understand that in most situations those day-by-day waitlists can clog up the system. And I don't mind making the calls. So it seems to me the new system is fine, so long as I don't let myself get guilt-tripped into thinking it's somehow "wrong" to make the phone calls...
