Waitlist VGC question

We originally had planned a couple of weeks at Aulani end of January but as a last minute thought, decided to split our time between Aulani and going to Disneyland (coming from Australia). We started to wait list for VGC couple of months back for the entire 6 nights we hope to stay but wisely have back up plans also...My question is, would it be better to split the wait list to 2 shorter wait lists for 3 nights each. If 3 nights opened up would we get them, subject too other ppl and how long they have waitlisted, even though we waitlisted 6 nights or will we only get our waitlist if a full 6 night reservation opened up? Or is it more likely we would get something by waitlisting shorter stays? Hope that makes sense! Thank you.

Waitlists are all or nothing. And they do not hold rooms that come to that save for the longer ones.

So, a three night will be easier to fill than a 6 night but VGC is so small I think it’s going to be tough for even those to fill.

Thanks. I didn't think they would hold the room as such but was wondering if they would offer us the 3 night stay if we have waitlisted a 6. I think I will change the wait list to 2 separate ones.

Yes it would be better to split into smaller chunks. 6 days is basically impossible at VGC.

If you’re okay with a split stay, this is what I’d do… keep your 6 day waitlist, you never know. Then waitlist night one. Stalk the website constantly and book any days that open up. If night one comes through, now waitlist night 2. If that comes through, do night 3. and so on. But even then… it’s tough. Assuming a studio… there’s only 23.

If the rooms open don’t match what you have waitlisted they move on to the next person on the list.

So, in your case, they would pass you buy if all they had was 3 and your waitlist is 6.

Good luck with the shorter ones! And don’t forget to stalk the website just in case!

My understanding is if you switch now you lose your place in line. I’d leave your 6 night and start a second for part of you stay, and stalk daily. You’ll have better luck with a one bedroom than a studio.
