Waitlist until 7 days vs. 30 days

I am currently on 2 wait lists for an early December 3-day weekend trip. I have only been on the wait list for a month and a half. It is currently set up to cancel at the 30 day mark, has anyone had any luck with wait lists clearing between the 30 days and the alternate 7 day cutoff? I booked a regular hotel room, so we are definitely going, it's just a matter of wanting a DVC villa instead.

as long as you can cancel the other room without penalty, i would change the WL to 7 days.
