Waitlist suggestions??

Well we FINALLY closed on our BWV resale and our points are in the system and we can get on the website!!!

We have been planning on an 11/29 - 12/4 trip and I knew getting any reservation would be tough. I did get a 1BR @ SSR for the 5 nights which I am happy about. I but in two waitlists but wanted to get some inputs from all of you on the best way to approach it. I don't mind staying at SSR but would prefer either BWV or AKV.

Since it didn't seem as though there were many consecutive days available anywhere I just waitlisted for two places for the entire 5 nights.

1BR @ BWV Preferred
1BR @ AKV Savannah

I remember from reading on this DIS that there are more preferred rooms at BWV than standard. I guessed that Savannah has the most rooms at AKV. Is that correct? Is there a better approach I should be taking?

Is there a list anywhere of the % of each room (studio / 1BR / etc) and view type for each resort?

Won't Kidani release additional rooms later this year? You might have a better chance there.

Are you interested in doing a split stay at all? If so, you could waitlist only part of the trip and it might be easier to see it come through to get 2 nights vs. 5.

I had AKV booked for 4 nights in August and decided a few weeks ago to switch to either BWV or BLT. I called and got two of the four nights at BWV so I booked them. Then I was able to WL for either BLT, LV or BWV for the first two nights. In a few days, those nights came through at BWV, so although I had to do it in stages, I ended up getting over to BWV for the whole time. The views are different, but that is okay since I wanted to be able to do the DDP for just two nights and this allows me to do it.
Of course, now I am hoping that I can switch two of those nights to BLT. It is opening week so I think my chances are slim to none, but it will cost a few more points so I can leave my WL in place until 7 days prior!

I would also call on occassion to check on nights or places you could not WL. Good luck!

Deva, it is my understanding that you are required to pick a specific room type. Can anyone else confirm that is true? I think this was part of the waitlist changes that came out awhile back.

You have to wait-list a specific room type not a generic resort request. In other words, you can't say BCV any room. You have to request lock-off or dedicated. You could request both, but that's your 2 request maximum.

I was really upset when the new wait-list rules were forced on us and I had several discussions with DVC Management about the new policy. I felt that the Membership didn't really understand how limiting the new policy really is.

Getting your wait-list filled has now become much harder. So much for Disney caring about the Members.

Our February trip we were on a WL for the length of stay, but would call back periodically and ended up being able to piece the trip together.

Ms told me that they are taking into account rooms that they are suppose to release when booking. My question is what happens if all the rooms they think are going to open up don't?

So I am thinking about changing my BW Preferred view waitlist to BLT Standard or Lake View.

I know this is not an exact science, but what do you think the chances of actually getting into BLT in December will be at this point?
