Waitlist success?

Has anyone had any success with being placed on a waitlist for a particular resort and it coming through? My family and I had a trip booked at the end of May for VGC but there’s a strong likelihood that we won’t be able to go into the parks since we aren’t CA residents. I’d rather just cancel. I decided to look at the Aulani instead but of course it’s all booked. Wondering if there’s any chance there will be an opening if we put our name on the waitlist. I know it’s especially hard to predict right now because of the pandemic. But as more things are opening up and my husband and I are fully vaccinated, we are starting to feel more comfortable traveling.

I had a waitlist for Boardwalk in July - not quite super popular but Food & Wine will be going during my dates. I actually grabbed the reservation before the waitlist came through, but I think I just lucked out and "beat" the computer timing.

California is a whole other animal, though. I don't think you will be allowed to travel to Disneyland in May if you are not CA resident.

We have a reservation already for the Grand Californian but I was hoping to switch it out with the Aulani. The AulanI only had a waitlist available, though.

Anything is possible but you are coming very late to the waitlist game. There are probably quite a few members who are ahead of you. I think that you have a better chance with stalking the booking website than you have with getting AUL via waitlist at this late stage.

I think you’re right. I did look at the booking website and they are completely booked, too. It’s probably not in the cards - wishful thinking on my part.
