What are the rules about waitlisting? I believe you can request waitlists only 2 times per use year. Is that correct? What if you make two waitlist requests but only get one? Can you waitlist again during that use year? Or can you only make 2 attempts, regardless of whether or not you get the waitlist granted? Does it matter if you are using borrowed or banked points? Thanks!

You can only have two *active* waitlists at a time, per UY. If one comes through or is cancelled, you can activate another.

So you can waitlist as many times as you want per UY as long as you have no more than 2 active at a time?

Also, can I have two waitlists at the same time for the same dates hoping one of them will come through? For example, can I waitlist at the same time both a standard view studio and a lake view studio for the exact same dates at BLT?

Yes.

Yes, but if your preferred one comes through, don't forget to immediately cancel the other one! You don't want your second choice to replace your first choice!

If they are for the same dates, the second one is automatically cancelled. I had an SSR reservation with waitlists for AKV Kidani and AKV Jambo. AKV Kidani came through the next day, the Jambo waitlist was cancelled.

You definitely can have more than 2 waitlists per use year, I've had several for my trip this month. My job kept changing dates for a conference so I've changed the dates twice with waitlists.

That would be a bummer if your second choice filled and it cancelled your first choice waitlist.

But no more than two per use year at any one point in time.

Right. When I had 2 already in the system, if I was looking at other resorts or dates, there was a message that I could not waitlist another.

One should never WL a stay they don't want if you have an existing reservation or another WL you don't want to lose. My rule of thumb with WL (of any type) is you'll get the worst one of the group. Even if you don't have anything that could get canceled, you could always end up matching and possibly borrowing points or being within the 30 day window. There are possible ways to decrease these issues if one plans accordingly.
