I am almost an owner and I feel like I'm on the starting blocks waiting for the gun. I have a bunch of things, trips, and transactions I want to do pretty much the day I'm in the system. I think I have a pretty good handle on everything except for waitlists. Searching through the posts I came up with the following.
One thing I don't get is exactly what happens when a wailist comes through. Sounds like whatever reservation you already have for those day(s) are replaced automatically, if you have one. Do you specify to MS which reservation it is supposed to replace?
Lets say I want BLT studio for a week, the first two days of the trip are unavailable in any view but available in all views for the rest. I would rather have standard view and save the points but I know it's not likely the standard will free up. I would also rather not have to switch rooms. So I think the best thing to do would be book BCV for the first two nights and BLT standard for the rest of the week and waitlist BLT std for the first two nights and BLT Lake view for the entire week. Does that make sense?
I read another post that basically said if the BLT lake view week comes available first then my waitlist for BLT standard would be cancelled. Would the booked BCV and BLT reservation also be cancelled? I don't think I'd have the points to cover it if it wasn't...
And here is the rest
1) Only two active waitlists at once
- I assume that this means if you happen to have two different UYs you could have two waitlists for each member#
2) Can have two different waitlists at the same resort for different dates and/or catagories.
3) Waitlists are active until 7 days out
4) Note that any waitlist filled less than 31 days out that is worth less points then something else you may already have booked would result in the difference being designated holding points
- makes sense
5) No phone call or email when your waitlist has been filled, a letter is sent snail mail. Member website will however show the new reservation
6) The only reason to call periodically when you are on a waitlist is if you want to check to see if ANY of the days you have waitlisted come up since the waitlist will only fill when all the days are available. You can call, book any available nights, and change the waitlist for the remaining.
- Seems some people like to call just to check on the status
I miss anything
