We've got a trip currently booked for November 7-11 at the boardwalk for a 1 bedroom. We're actually hoping to move it up to November 6-10. We've got a trip waitlisted that would replace it. I'm curious given we have the 7-10 of those days what the odds are of getting the wait list.

Would someone that's ahead of us on the waitlist more likely get the full reservation, or if it happens to work that the one day opens up would they take into account that we have the other 4 days to fill it already and create the new reservation and remove our old?

I doubt they even could take into account the fact that you have the days you do.

If you have the points to wait list just the first day you need and when or if you get it remove the last, I think that is the best chance. However, you probably would wind up with holding points. This late and at the time of the year you want, I do not think your chances are good.

They don't have any way to anticipate the wait list unless the last changes altered that reality. For example, if you're second on the list holding A and looking for B and someone else is second on the list holding B and looking for A, they won't jump the first person and make the match just because it's fits. I'd put in 2 wait lists. One that is for the 1 day but expires at 31 days out and one that is for the full reservatoion that you want that expires at 7 days. Then if you get the wait list on the single day, you can just cancel the otherone so you don't end up with holding account points or have points borrowed you didn't want to have. Had it varied in terms of weekend vs weekday you could have had a few points end up in holding if you'd matched on the second longer wait list but for you it doesn't matter since what you want is a few more points than what you have. I'd make a backup reservation for the one day though. Good luck.

Thanks, I think what I'll likely do is go ahead and shorten then waitlist for the 1 day. I'm pretty sure just due to schedules leaving on Wednesday will be more of a pain for us, and worst case we just have 1 day less which we can live with.

If I do have a stay for 1 day, then a stay for the several is there a chance they could combine those into a single stay either in advance or at least when I check in?

They should be able to link the 2 reservations if they are for the same kind of room at the same resort.

If it's for the same resort and room type and under the same master, they will combine into a single reservation. They often do so whether you want them to or not.
