Waitlist questions....

I am considering a waitlist for a stay and to book the stay points would need to be borrowed from '11 use year.

My question(s) are if for some reason the waitlist fails to be filled entirely, are the points that were 'borrowed' now in this use year?

I would like to say if the wl does not fully come thru, just cancel the potential stay. Any input would be appreciated.

They will not borrow points unless the waitlist is matched and a confirmed reservation is created.

I ended up cancelling my waitlist, but I was also going to borrow 2011 points. They told me that they had to have a note on the waitlist that would give them permission to borrow the points from that year or it would cause a delay in the reservation if the waitlist came through. As was previously mentioned, they won't take the points until the reservation has come through.
