Waitlist question

Hi~

I have made my first DVC reservation for the end of June. We are confirmed at SSR but have been waitlisted for VWL. Can you tell me the likelihood of getting this waitlist? Also, at the time I booked there was only 1 day not available. I am not sure how I was put on the waitlist--ie for all days or were the other days held and waiting for the one day. Any advice from the veterans would be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't mind staying at SSR but my son is really hoping for VWL.

I have always had good luck on the waitlist. I think I've only had one time during F&W when my waitlist didn't work out. So your chances are probably good. I would suggest calling MS Monday morning and double checking how and what days they have you waitlisted for. Also, there are two ways they can do your waitlist, either they can automatically switch your reservation if your waitlist comes available or they can notify you by phone first before switching your reservation. You just need to let them know which you prefer.

when you are put on the waitlist do you have to have enought points to cover both reservations. I will only have enough to cover the one I have and then if the wait list comes throught, I can cancel my SSr and have enought points for bwv. Am I understanding that correctly?

Yes, that is correct. The points will only be deducted for the ressie you have made and not the waitlist. If your waitlist comes available, you then use the points from the original ressie and if more are needed for the new ressie, they will be deducted at that time. Sometimes you may need less points for the new ressie, and then they will go back into your account.
