Waitlist Question

We reworked our spring break trip, and now have 13 points available. We are planning to drive this trip, so we are debating adding a waitlist at Hilton Head on the way down/on the way back (14 points). Borrowing is not an option as we've tied our points going forward into a big trip in December.

I played with the waitlist feature, and it will actually let me make the waitlist, even though I do not have enough points and none available to borrow. I deleted it as I know it won't work. My question is, could I call Member Services, buy 1 point (roll the dice) for $19, and place the waitlist through them? Or do I have to wait, see if anything opens up, and if it does, then call to buy 1 point. I'd prefer to set it and forget, but just curious what the options are in this situation.

I don’t think that you can just purchase OTUPs without having them attached to a reservation immediately. So, I suggest calling Member Services, booking ANY reservation that requires exactly 14 points and purchasing the 1 point that way. Then cancel the reservation and put in your waitlist for HHI.
