Waitlist question

Have a wait list question. Is it possible to wait list a day if in order to fill that request you would need to cancel another day in the reservation? For example (theoretical) if I booked 1/1 - 1/5 because 12/31 wasn't available but I really want 12/31 - 1/4, can I wait list for 12/31 and have that added at the same time as dropping 1/5? And if not then what happens if you don't have enough points to cover the wait list should it come through? Do they automatically borrow?

You can not _change_ a reservation when a waitlist comes through. If you had the 1/4-1/5 night reserved as a separate reservation, you could have that one cancel at the time your 12/31 were fulfilled. The system will allow you to "switch out" reservations, but not cancel them.

So Yes, when you go to make your waitlist, the system will make you check a yes/no box to verify that you do or do NOT want them to borrow points to fulfill the waitlist.

If there is a way to make the 1/4 night a separate reservation, you might want to go that route, otherwise you'll have to borrow points. Then you can just cancel the other night and bank those points (assuming it's in your banking window).

You have the option to replace a reservation and I have read of people doing what you are talking about successfull in dropping a night off one end and adding to the other end. But remember that sometimes waitlist filling can get messed up because it is a person manual completing it and if they don't understand 100% you might end up with just the 1 night you waitlisted.

For borrowing you are asked if you authorize that or not.
