waitlist question

My DD & I are planning on going to SWW next year. I want to make our ressie at our home resort and switch at 7 months to BWV. Do I call at 7 months or can I waitlist when I make the ressie? I have so far only stayed at our homes - BLT & Kidani. We have not waitlisted before so this is new to me.

That is correct. If you do have to waitlist you will be asked if you want the waitlist to go until 31 days out or 7 days out. If you choose 7 then be aware that if the waitlist fills less then 30 days out and the points required for the new reservation are less then the difference will go into holding. If the waitlist fills 31 or more days out then they will return to their status they held when you made your first reservation.

I have another wait list question. We are currently booked at OKW in early December. There was no availability for near Hospitality House, so I'm wait listed for that. But I'm also wait listed for WL (my preference). My understanding is that if Hospitality House area comes available, I'll be assigned that & WL will be dropped. So, how do I know if I got the Hospitality House area? Will the ressie look different if I look up "my vacation plans" on the DVC member's site? Because if I get it, I'll need to call Member's services to get back on the wait list for WL (I know I'm unlikely to get it, but I can always hope). I've never wait listed before, so this is all new to me.

HH is a booking category so your reservation will show HH on the website.
