I did a search of the boards and turned up some old threads that said people were not being notified by MS that their waitlists had come through. The consensus was that you need to keep calling to check.

Is this still the case, or is MS better about notifying you these days (i.e., since the change to the waitlist policy)?

MS no longer calls members if their waitlist comes through. They just book it for you and send you a snail mail confirmation letter.

That's why people check the website. The vacation details section of the members website is real-time or very near real time. So you can find out there well before the confirmation letter arrives. If your new reservation shows there, the waitlist cam through!

Good luck with yours!

I never call and have most of my waitlists come thru. I have one right now that I am doubtful on, but.... I do have a place to stay (Food & Wine have BWV want BCV)

You can check online! Good news, oh wait, maybe not...I can just see myself obessively refershing the page. :rotfl:

Me too! :sad2: OKW --> BCV for the last weekend of F&W. A girl can dream, can't she?

I wanted a one bedroom at BCV from 9/28 to 10/5. I got a studio for those dates and then got on a waitlist for the 1 bedroom. Rather than wait to see if the waitlist would come through, I did a variation of what I belived used to take place.

Namely, I called a couple times a day and asked if ANY of my dates were available and worked it backwards. So first, I got 10/3-10/5 then I added 10/1 to 10/3. the hardest part was getting the last three nights switched over, but today it happened! Now each time I modified the trip, they modified my waitlist, so I went to the back of the line, but I think if you're willing to be a bit proactive, its worth it (my theory being that the odds of me getting a full week waitlist when I didn't get on the list until july were slim to none).

I know this wasn't really the point of the OP's question, but it and the thread just above mine makes me wonder: I know with the new WL policy, you have to WL for the entire period of your vacation....say, it's a week. Then if the entire week comes through, they book it for you and you're all set.

But what if, say, 6 of the 7 nights became available--you'd never know it unless you kept calling...then you could book that, then waitlist for just the last night which might be easy(ier). So, the question is, does it pay to just keep calling anyway rather than (or in addition to) waitlisting?

I called today about my VWL waitlist for Nov 23-29. I was told the whole resort is gone for those dates. I was told that at around 31 days are when folks have a history to cancel. This is done to save from being holding points.
