waitlist for thanksgiving

We just decided to go to DW for thanksgiving and were put on the waitlist for the 11/27-11/29. We are arriving on the 25 and leaving on the 3rd. From what i am learning it is a busy time for dvc has anyone had any luck getting a room for thanksgiving off the wait list? What are some other options? Its my boyfriends family dvc so i'm new to all of this? Thanks in advance!!

It is one of (if not) the busiest times of the year for DVC. Sure, lots of people have had waitlists come through. The probability of your particular waitlist coming through depends on a number of things such as resort and room type. If you are trying to get AKV club or value, your chances are pretty slim since there are so few rooms and likely a long waiting list already for those rooms. It will also depend on how many days your are trying to get. The more days you need, the harder it will be to fill the request because you will need cancelations to cover your entire time frams to all happen at once and you be the next in line for those dates.

Do you all have a back-up plan in place if the waitlist doesn't come through?

They told dvc that we would take any room that became avaliable. Even if we have to switch resorts we didnt care i think our back up plan is to just book a room and pay cash for those 3 nights. Like i said we just decided to do this on Sunday so we are in early stages of planning

Who is "they." You can't wait list for "anything available". It doesn't work that way. You have to put in a specific request for resort, room type, etc. you're allowed 2 wait lists of this nature.

I see. Well I'm sure they have wait listed for something particular and you just don't know what it is. SSR and OKW are the locations most likely to come through on waitlists. Also AKV because those are the biggest resorts.
