Okay, am wanting to add at least 100, possibly 150 points at BCV, March Use Year.

I know Terry S just recently added on with Feb use year.

Unfortunately, my guide is out of the office until Thursday so I can't even get on the waitlist yet.

Should I call DVC and just ask for another guide so I can at least get my name on the waitlist? Or is two days not going to make a big enough difference to worry about it?

Any opinions?

Ours just went through in a day (BCV 100 pts Aug UY).

Our guide said there is usually a 1% give back from contracts that fall through but I'm not sure how long that will last. I would think it couldn't hurt to call and speak to someone else.

It is okay to call another guide to put you on the waitlist. I did that when my guide was on vacation. It is no problem

I would call and get put on the waitlist, any guide can do it. As a matter of fact when I added on, my guide was on vacation so I called the main number and they put me through with an available guide, which happened to be Betty. She put me on the waitlist and as you know, I got my points about 4 days later. My guide was back from vacation at the time and gave me the call. Just so you know when they put me on the waitlist for these points they took my credit card number and all my info right then and there. It wasn't like "we will call you when they become available and ask you if you want them". It was basically, like, they are yours when they come in!

Is one use year/month better than any other? Do I care which use year anniversary they give me or is it "all good"?

Grumpy--

Use year can be a big deal if you are going to vacation at the same time every year until 2042. Basically use year affects your banking and borrowing deadlines.

Since that's 39 more years, I know I am very likely to change when I go.

I just took March because that's what I was offered.

So I called and got on the waitlist, but they quoted me $890 as a downpayment.

That doesn't sound right, does it?

I thought add-ons were for $84 per point at BCV. And I thought that you could get MB and get points (when getting at least 100 like I am) for $74 per point.

SSR is $89 per point. Could I have been quoted SSR's downpayment numbers by mistake?

Or has there been a price increase that I am unaware of?

My downpayment was $840. Which was 84 x 100 = 8,400 x10% = 840 + 1,000 for MB = $1,840 down payment.

You can't use MB on all of the pts that come off the waitlist. It depends on WHAT waitlist they come off of.

If they are points that Disney has because they exercised their ROFR then you can't use MB on those.

If they are points that are simply coming from a cancelled contract then you CAN use MB on them-because they have never been "used".

Your down payment should only have to be $500-that's what mine was a few weeks ago. I have to send the balance of the 10% with the paperwork for my BCV add on.

BCV pts are still $84 per pt but could rise in price depending on how long you are on the waitlist.

I hope this helps.:D

So instead of $10 per point off the price, did you apply $10 per point to your downpayment?

Is it still lose your first year's points with that option?

The down payment for our add on was also 10% but we only had to have authorization in for $500 if the points became available and they did.

You have to put down 10%. MB only counts as an additional down payment-if you can get it.

Do you think you should call your guide and find out if you are going to be able to use MB. If you can't use MB then I think they want 20% down. I would check with your guide if you are under the assumption that you will be able to use MB-just to double check.

Let us know what your guide says.

Yes, I used the $10 per point ($1,000) as part of my downpayment. I did loose my Feb 2003 points.

I think my post was kind of confusing.

Yes, you can use MB as part of the down payment but it will be in addtion to the 10% you already put down.

If you are unable to use MB then I think they ask you to put 20% down but I could be mistaken.

Terry S and I both received pts that hadn't been in contracts before. They were points that came from someone changing their mind or if their credit wasn't approved.

I've seen a couple of posts today about people getting BCV pts off the waitlist and I assume they are coming back in for the above stated reasons.

Let us know what your guide says.:D

Zulaya, they are quoting me a use year of Sept. I'm starting with this year's points allotment, then we get new points in a year.

So if I wanted to reserve for Oct. 2004, can I make those reservations in Nov. 2003 (11 months in advance) using the points I'll be getting in Sept. of 2004?

All, these must be ROFR, because I can't give back the 10% for the first year as part of the down payment. Just as well, though since we're going in Oct. and then again for Easter. Its not like we won't use them. :) BTW, they quoted me $500 down and the rest of the down payment within 30 days.

My guide is not in the office until Thursday. So I am completely in the dark as to whether I can get MB or not. If I don't, I am not going to cry about it, but it would be nice if the option was available.

I am calling the DVC office right now to see what anyone can tell me.

So there are no guides in the DVC office. They are all out for the night or giving tours and the lady who answered the phone couldn't tell me whether I could possibly be getting points eligible for MB or not.

So I guess I have to wait until Thursday when my guide gets back in the office.

I hate waiting when I am ready to act on something...I hate it doubly when I can't get anyone to give me any concrete answers.
