Waitlist concerns. Anyone else encounter this?

I waitlisted yesterday for 3nts at any resort expect saratoga springs (not saratoga springs bashing but am staying there for the 6 nights after the cruise). Today, I decided that i would see if any availability at one of the monorail resorts - not the best use of points i know, but i am looking for 3 nights from 7th Dec and that football/cheerleading thing is going on then, so i'm getting a little nervous.

Anyway, no vacancies at any of the deluxe resorts, so i asked the CM to confirm what resorts i am waitlisted for - she said all - i double checked and i had also been waitlisted for Saratoga Springs - and yes, i opted to be listed so they reserve straight away.

I asked for SSR to be removed, and i also asked if they would call me when my reservation had been made - she said no, they would contact me by mail. I said that i would prefer phone, as mail usually takes about three weeks to get here from WDW (am in the uk). So, I asked if i ought to call, every few days to see if they have a ressie for me and explained the postal situation - the CM then told me that i am not allowed to call - and they would post the reservation!

Please advise. If i got a confirmed reservation early november, i might not get it until about a week before my trip - and by then, i would want to have booked something else. Should i just cancel the waitlist - bank my points and pay for a hotel room? It is disheartening when cm's are rude and unhelpful. I bought DVC over four years ago and have never used it for WDW since 2001 due to personal circumstances. I don't expect to get the exact reservation that i want, but, it would be nice if they could not be so rude when i am finally trying to make a reservation! Most CM's are nice and extremely friendly, but this one was terrible.

I recently waitlisted for a studio, any resort. The CM told me that I was welcome to call daily, and each time I called I asked if they recommended calling daily.

Finally one day I called about noon MS time, and lo and behold, a studio was available at SSR for all dates. The CM booked it, but she was puzzled why it didn't pick up from the waitlist for me.

Not a perfect system, I guess.

But I wouldn't wait for a confirmation in the mail - I too would need to know my plans in advance.!

I would call back they should be able to handel your request. :Pinkbounc

Don't let that CM deter you. Call them and check on your waitlist if you need to, especially being in the UK.

Call back again and hopefully you'll get a more caring CM who would be more than happy to help you with what you'd like to do.

I encourage you to call back as well. Good luck on your waitlist.

Absolutely call back and don't hesitate to ask for a supervisor!!

I don't know if the rules are different since you are outside the USA, but every time we have waitlisted we have been asked whether we woudl like to be called to confirm the reservation or if we prefered automatic booking. We always ask to be called so we know that our resort has been changed.

I agree, I would just change the request to call first instead of autoconfirm, that way you will be notified of the change by phone.

This way, if you book something else, you can still remain on the waitlist until the cancellation period begins.

could time difference be playing a part in why they won't call???? If they won't call, they should be able to e-mail!

I don't know - i will ask them if they can call. But, everytime they read out my home phone number to me to confirm they get it wrong - so they are obviously not even changing it when i say it is wrong! Maybe email would be better - tried again today but with no luck.

They will call, or at least they did last year (5 times, as each night became availible). I to am wait listed for December with auto confirm, I have booked PO Riverside for the 3 nights I'm short, but at least the cancellation policy is 5 days and as the waitlist ends at 7 days.
