I think it is possible, but not probable. IMHO, if you waitlisted for all 5 nights together (rather than by individual days), it is even more unlikely.

It's JMHO and anything can happen. Good luck!

But what I've always wondered is-if you waitlist for individual days, and only get some days, can you be "stuck" transfering over to the other resort because you only got some of the days? I know it's not likely at OKW, but what I'm concerned about is-if you waitlist day by day, does MS cancel those days at your original resort and when you find you only got some of the days, and say "Never mind-I'll stay where I was" those days are gone? For example, if I reserve at VWL for 5 days, but waitlist day by day at BWV standard view, then 3 of those days come through, MS cancels VWL for those days. But then as time gets close, and I learn I only have 3 days at BWV and would rather stay at VWL the whole time than have to pack up and move, but when I try to get my ressies for 5 days at VWL back, I now have only 2 days (5-the 3 that got transferred to BWV). Does MS "save" your original ressies until you have all the days, or have I found the problem with waitlisting day by day? Always wondered about that. Anyone know?

MS only cancels reservations if you tell them to do so. Assuming a person has enough points and isn't limited by banking deadlines, most people would advise keeping the original reservation until all the days on the waitlist have "cleared". At that time the original reservation can be cancelled.

I'm one of those who does NOT like to change resorts during my vacation and I would rather not go at all than move more than once. It would seem that for those like me, we should waitlist the entire trip. However, IMHO, a waitlist is more likely to come through for the whole trip if individual days are waitlisted. And if you have enough points, you always have the ressie at your home resort to fall back on. We love our home resort so that is not at all a bad fall back option.

It's a much more difficult situation if you don't have enough points to keep both ressies during the waitlist period, or if you have to "bank or lose" points before the waitlist has had time to work its magic for you. In that case, you will need to make a decision sooner in the process. In both situations that I've had like that, I've ended up cancelling the waitlist request. But as mentioned, staying at our home resort is just fine!

Wow! You summed up my question exactly. I am currently booking BCV for Nov. 29-Dec. 7 2003. I want to try and switch to BWV at 7 months, but don't want to give up my days at BCV until I know I have all the days at BWV. I was wondering if I could keep my reservation at BCV intact until all the days come through.

I decided to post here, in this existing post on Waitlist chances...

Could anyone give me their opinion/similar experience on my waitlist chances for a 2-bedroom standard view at BWV for 5 nights (Sun - Thurs) the first week of December?

I got on the waitlist a week after the 11-month window, and I booked 2 of the nights (Tues and Wed) and waitlisted the 3 remaining nights (Sun, Mon, Thurs).

If I do have a chance, when do you think it 'might' come thru? Possibly at the 7-month window for other resorts, when people change plans? Or much closer, like maybe in November???

It's driving me crazy since this is our first experience with going 'home' and with the waitlist!!

Thanks in advance for any advice, opinions, and/or similar experiences!:)

So, basically, I would need enough points to cover both ressies if I made a reservation and got wait listed for another that I'd prefer? I just made a ressie at BWV for Nov. for a 2 bedroom preferred view at 282 pts., I'd rather have a standard view at 236 pts. so I could save the 46 pts left over to bank for the following year so I could go to Disney again next year. If I'm understanding this correctly, I would need the points to cover both ressies if I wait-list for the standard view. Is this right? If so, I'm very sad.

Yes you'd need enough points to cover both- Disney does not allow you to "double book" so to speak- you have to have the points available in order to make a reservation- keeps it fair for everyone. Wait lists work very well except for maybe New Years eve night and standard view Boardwalk, simply because there are not very many of them.
