Waitlist & Borrowed pts question

Our current reservation is 19pts more than the waitlist. If the waitlist comes through what will happen to my points since I borrowed? Which points will they automatically put back? Not sure if anyone has had experience with this, but any insight would be appreciated. Sometimes all this points stuff makes my brain hurt

I would like for them to put "bank-able" points back, is there any way to specify that?

Make sure that you have MS note which points to put back and check your account if your wait list comes through.

Thanks for the quick reply. Of course today is my 7 month window & everything is closed for the upgrade!
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help :goodvibes

So if you have a reservation that requires borrowed points, but waitlist a reservation that DOESN'T require borrowing, and the waitlist comes through, will the borrowed points go back to the next UY? I thought once you borrowed them, they could not be put back. Am I wrong? Or does the waitlist allow you to have them put back? I would like to know for future reference.

When you bank or borrow points you change them into the new UY points. They can not be put back and they can not be banked or borrowed again.

I got someone on the phone right at 3pm when they opened & was able to get exactly what I wanted so it turns out I didn't need the waitlist afterall. I aske dthe CM to make sure I get bankable points returned to me so its all taken care of, yay!

I wasn't expecting for that to happen, I'm so happy right now!

Thanks again for the guidance, this is going to be my first DVC trip & we're new members so I'm still half-clueless.

I was concerned about just this question having just made a 2 bed ressie using some banked points, all my current year points and borrowing more points from next year. Really do not need or want a 2 bed so have waitlisted for both a studio and 1 bed.
So I called MS who advised me that if either of my waitlists come through points would be automatically utilised in this order:
1. Banked points
2. Borrowed points
3. Current year points.
This means that I will be able to bank any unused current year points and I am happy with this. :goodvibes

If this is the case I would be sure that the waitist expired 30 days out unless you know you'll be able to use the holding points (is that what they are called, I've never had them) in the current UY.

I originally requested a waitlist expiry date 7 days from check in, but MS made exactly the same point and it has now been amended to 31 days. We live in the UK and it would probably not be feasible for us to make another trip before the end of May next year which is when any points in holding would expire.

MS is good at reminding members of this point. :thumbsup2
