I have a reservation for HHI in April. I currently have our first night booked in a studio since we are arriving later in the afternoon/early evening and I did not have enough points to book the whole trip in a 1BR at the 11-month window. The next 4 nights are booked in a 1BR and both reservations used up all of our 2023 and 2024 HHI points and left 7 points in our 2025 UY.

I wanted to leave my AKV points for 2024 untouched because I was planning to take a WDW trip in October 2024 (Feb UY), but now, I am planning to go in December 2024 instead. Because we are going so late in my UY, we have decided to just pay cash and stay in a regular resort room. That means I will be banking my AKV points until 2025.

Today, it hit me that I could waitlist that first night of our HHI trip in a 1BR without any risk. The studio is 10 points and the 1BR is 20 points. I have 7 points left in my HHI 2025 UY and I "authorized" borrowing. I assume that if the waitlist fills, they will take the 10 points needed from my AKV 2024 UY, correct? I want them to use the 7 points from my 2025 HHI UY and then the 3 remaining points from my 2024 AKV UY. If they did not do this automatically, would I be able to call and have them change it?

They will not borrow points while you have points available that can be used. Since you are waitlisting less than 7 months out, they will pull your AKV points for the trip.

You might be able to call and see if they can make a note not to use that contract, but that is not how it will typically work.

Now, you could secure something with your AKv points well in the future to tie them up in case the waitlist fills that forces them to borrow..and then cancel what you booked with the AKV points…
