I have a trip booked with three rooms Dec 6-10 at SSR.
This will be the first trip for 4 out of 9 of our party. I was going to try to waitlist for AKL, but I would only be able to waitlist 2 outof 3 of the rooms, right? I don't want to leave someone behind! (Well, maybe my sister, but she would be pretty mad.;))
I like SSR, but as we all know, it's not immersed in Disney, and maybe the kiddos would like to see giraffes...
Which one do I want? Kidani or Jambo? I don't know anything about AKV, because I don't like the Animal Kingdom park, so it has never interested me.

Thanks in advance.
I realize 3 rooms being available for those dates at 7mos in slim, but I guess it's worth a shot...

I too am hoping to waitlist at AKV for Dec 5-8, dedicated 2 bedroom. Right now we are at OKW, but hope if I waitlist on Tuesday(7months to the day)I will have a shot at it. Pixie dust for both of us !!!!

Just wishing you good luck - According to the December 2009 thread on Resort Availability Forum, there are no reports for your dates. That's a good thing. :) Of course, it's based on member reports and not everyone reports, so you can't count on it being 100% accurate. And things do change, BUT it's better than seeing "sold out" reports for what you were planning to get. :)

If you can get at least one room, then you can waitlist the other two. As far as Jambo or Kidani, I'd ask MS which has more availability and go with that.

Good luck! And to you also, Debby7.

I hope I can get something. Like I said, I know very little about AKV, I just know the 2 little kids that are coming for the first time have a "thing" about giraffes. I'm not sure they will EVER get back to Disney, so I want to give them what I can for this time.
I'm off to read the book as to what view and section I am interested in....

I was just able to book a room for the week before xmas so there is still some availability.
I do not know what the make up of your group is but, other than the value units, the two bedrooms at AKV sleep nine so that might work for you as well.

Even if you do not get the rooms, take the kids to AKV when you visit AK. There is lots to see and spots where you can see the animals. I am sure they will enjoy it.

Good luck

I just noticed that studio savanna view is the same number of points as SSR studio?!?!
Is that right???
Seems odd...
Because that's what I want, right? Savanna view??
(Wow I am using a lot of punctuation..):rotfl:

Yep - correct! Seems a little crazy but it's true. However it won't be after 2009. Beginning next year the SSR studio will be 60 and the AKV Savanna view wil be 65 for the same season. It's a good year to try and do the switch!

Is there any way you can increase your chances by being flexible on room size and configuration? Have a backup plan if possible.

Instead of waitlisting three studios could you make a 2 bedroom or a one bedroom and sep. studio work instead? Maybe this way you wont even have to waitlist! Also if two of the kids are giraffe nuts and you don't care as much maybe you could book some standard view studios and wait list savannah views for some. And you can always go to the viewing areas to see giraffes!!

Good luck!!!

I just went on the waitlist for AKV 2 bdrm, Dec 5 -8. Kidani had two of the nights and Jambo had none. Not sure what the situation for studios is. I am hoping that since I jumped on that waitlist at 9:02 on the 7 month mark, something will open up. Traveling with my sisters and 83 yr old mom so I didn't want to switch in the middle of a three night stay. Good luck to you
bonybroad- hope we both get what we want !

The two giraffe nuts are in separate rooms, of course.
I learned the first time that we all travelled together, before kids, that having separate rooms is a must for sanity and harmony.
So I really need 2 studios and 1bed. I guess I will try, and if nothing available on the first shot, I'm not waitlisting.
Dont' want to take the chance of getting two and not the other. That would NOT help with harmonious family trip.
:rolleyes1
