Well, I was going to wait until he got here, but I can't keep exciting news quiet for too long.

As some of you may know (oh, hai :3) I've been wanting a Dollfie (or BJD for those who want to get specific with different doll companies) for a looooong time now. About a year before I joined the DIS which was in 2005, really. They are gorgeous customizable dolls from Korea/China/or Japan with ball joints for incredible posing possibilities. Some people think it's kind of weird that people will pay something fierce (my boy is $412 including shipping) for a hunk of pretty resin, but a hobby is a hobby and due to my other artistic activities (cosplay, writing, etc.) I probably won't be getting another one for a long time.

But I've been pining after this doll for about 5 years now, and finally for my recent birthday in March, my mom and grandma surprised me and ordered him for me.

Right now, I've been waiting for 5 weeks and 3 days for his arrival. He hasn't left Korea (;____; ) and the wait time is killing me.

I know we've had threads talking about what you do during your wait to go to Disney, but what about other things?

What do you do to past the time waiting for...whatever really?

Alllriight... I have NO idea what a dolfie is.. but CONRATULATIONS!! I recently went through the torture and aganoy for something i really wanted, which was a new electric guitar, and it was at the local guitar center! I had to wait because i didnt have enough money lol.
what helps me when i am waiting is to try not to think about it.. that way when it arrives, you won't be "expecting" it and you get all jazzed. hehe its hard to not think about something like this, but really try...

LOL, yeah I think your weird for wanting one. But hey, it's what you want and it's your money - who gives a kink what I think?
Personally, I go to extremes. I either keep thinking about it 24/7 and do things related to it (like for Disney I watch old home videos) or I try to ignore it completely.

I guess you could look up cool doll clothes on-line, and maybe even try making some. :)

I usually do other things to keep my mind busy.

May I just ask you why these dolls are so expensive? Is it the craftsmanship?

First of all WOOOOAH!! So glad you're finally getting your Dolfie!!! :goodvibes
I know you've been wanting one for ages so yayyy!!!

I am BRUTAL when it comes to waiting for stuff, so I have no advice! haha
I usually am just really really antsy about waiting.

I have a friend (who is spoiled & rich) and has like.....6 Dolfies...I never knew they cost THAT MUCH! SO holy holy she's spent a lot on that hobbie.
But she makes awesome outfits for them and takes some really amazing pictures of them. They look really awesome.

Let us know when it comes!!

:goodvibes thanks for the helpful advice, guys ^^

lol sonya.i know im weird. but hey, people pay just as much for designer bags. xD

and they are usually so expensive because they are hand casted and sculpt.
:3 not to mention the shipping charges cost an arm and a leg (my shipping charge is $60 and i may have to pay something else to get it through customs once it reaches the states >_<)

aww thanks caitlin x3 i know, ive been whining for like, ever. XD
and your friend is very lucky to have so many dolls. i dont think id be willing to own that many xD
and i will deffinitley let ya'all know when he comes, i dont think my excitement will let me contain it to myself.
