Okay, I am going to DW with another family and over the past 5 months I have tried to get them started on planning for the trip. They never wanted to here anything about it. In fact, they would get irritated by my mentioning anything Disney. So, annoying!

Anyways, we are leaving for DW in 6 days. I get a call tonight asking where and how they can purchase park tickets. :furious: Can they purchase park tickets at the hotel we are staying at? We are staying at Animal kingdom lodge kidanni villa?

So excited!! This is our second trip to DW but our first trip as DVC members.

The concierge desk should be able to help with tickets at the resort.

Have fun!

Why is the other family going if they didn't want to plan, didn't want to hear about it and got irritated when you mentioned anything Disney? It doesn't sound as if they're as enthusiastic about the trip as you are. Are they staying at AKV as your guests on your points?

we took friends with us the last few years the only thing I made sure they planned was getting tickets so I got them through UT. I explained to them they didn't have to plan anything but if they wanted to save some money the tickets should be ordered as soon as possible. NO PLANNING and had a GREAT TIME STRESS FREE! My DH and I are going alone next Friday and have nothing planned not even Dinners! We will decide what we want to when we get up in the mornings AGAIN STRESS FREE!.

Yeah, but it sounds like OP is a planner and the friends aren't... that's generally a recipe for disaster.

Of course I am like you but soon I am afraid that my failure to plan will mean all I can do is ride unpopular rides and tour gift shops thanks to FP+ :happytv:

As of right now, your room keys work for regular FP, and if you have the band you can do FP+. I plan....once I'm there. No longer do DDP because it requires too much planning. We plan maybe 1 TS meal each trip ahead of time (at one of the hard to get places) and any other sit downs we want, we just use the app to find what's open and go from there. And if you go during F&W, who needs to plan meals!

well if the POPULAR rides are more rollercoaster rides they can keep it. I am a slow rider not into thrill rides. So the more that go to those rides the better for me! I will be happy to ride the train all day and in Epcot I would just love watching the movies and Listening to the Land! and strolling the countries. OH and I love watching the street theaters players. That is relaxing vacation to me. None of the I GOTTA GO HERE OR THERE! So they can keep their MagicBands for all I care.

OP, we're planners like you, and often take extended family to WDW. I find most of them, although excited about going, are passive and let us make all the arrangements. To be honest, most of the time it works out better that way! I don't have to take in everyone's requests, wants, needs, and we take them where we want to go. There's enough to do at WDW to please everyone.

In the end, if people act like lemmings they can't complain later about what they might have missed.

You do realize that they are putting FP+ on everything but the "diasters" (AKA as Stich LOL!) So you now can get fast passes for.... Indiana Jones, all the little boat rides, spots for the parades and fireworks etc... So in order to give everyone "three" some of them will be getting a FP to the movie in France I am concerned this is going to make everything a mess. :confused34

This isn't moving folks to the thrill rides it's an attempt to move folks to the 'slow rides'

We bought DVC and a AP have no children and in our late 50's, so we wouldn't have to worry about seeing everything in the one visit. I have been to Disney so many times I cannot count so to me just being there is enough vacation for me. Walking around Epcot is enough for me so that is why the Boardwalk is my Home Resort. If something is new I will wait a couple of years eventually I will get to see it when something else new opens up.

Really fastpasses for everything? Oh I didn't know that, I haven't heard about these MB until last week when I was checking the boards for info on who was going in Sept. I would have not known anything if it wasn't for the DisBoards.

Can you explain the part about "bands." I booked FP+ on line for my Oct stay with DSis. Do we have to get bands?:confused3. I have a PAP and DSis has a tix from Undercover Tourist. MDE took our info and I have FP+ scheduled.

Most of my family members are not planners and did/do the same thing as the OP's friends. And we've had good trips with just a couple delays because they didn't buy tickets when I sent them the link - or didn't bring their own coffee like I said they should. ;) Personally I think the early planning is a bit ridiculous too so maybe that's why it works out as I can understand where they're coming from. :rotfl:

Somewhere along the line you should have been asked to pick out and personalize your magic bands. You may want to go back into MDE. Then the magic bands will be sent to your home prior to your departure and you need to bring them with you to FL.

Oh, yes, I have been asked, but figured it was an option I didn't need. Ok I will order them.

Thank you.

I have read that they would issue you an RFID card if you didn't get the band but you also don't have to wear the band - can just carry it in your bag if that's preferred.
