Any ideas on waiting in lines with our 4 year old and 18 month old? I am planning on bringing some markers and paper, but would love any additional ideas. This is their first trip and my first with the children.
Watch for characters, play 20 questions (my four-year-old was surprisingly good at playing "Disney character 20 questions"), look for things of a certain color, count stuff (Mickey balloons, Disney t-shirts, etc. And having a small bottle of bubbles (in a ziploc bag in case they leak!) is a great suggestion--helps the mood of everyone around you in addition to your own kids! I'm not so sure about the 18-month-old, but I bet you'll be very pleasantly surprised by how well your 4yo will wait in line at Disneyland. It's such a happy, colorful place, my kids even seem to enjoy standing in line, especially for the attractions that they really love.
With three kids( the youngest turned five last monday), we have experience with this. While markers sound easy, the accidental marking of someone nearby can cause problems. We carry washable crayons and magnadoodles to eliminate potential disasters. We also take along electronic games such as Disney Yahtzee, Bingo, etc. We get the games at stores like Target and Walmart. Most of the time, these games cost less than $6.00, so there is not as much pain if one should get misplaced or lost.
