Waiting in line but not riding?

My sons nana is coming with us this time... She won't ride roller coasters or TOT.. Everyone else in our party of four will.. I'm wondering instead of making her wait outside the ride by herself the whole time if she could possibly just get in line with us than go out the exit when we board (or however that works)? Or is that frowned upon, going in line when you know you won't ride?

TIA

Most rides have a "chicken exit". Others might know where they are for each ride but if you don't find out ahead of time, I would just ask the CM about it before you get into line. I've heard it being used without much trouble.

It's not a problem at all. Most lines are somewhat entertaining, and it is always more fun to be with the group than trying to find a bench (there are almost none!) to wait on. Especially when lines are so long!

Do know though- you need a fast pass to wait in that line, whether you ride or not.

This can be done at all attractions.

Nobody is ever forced to ride a WDW attraction.
As you reach the boarding area, just tell the CM that you have decided not to ride.

As others have said, she can easily exit once you get to the seater person. You just say "three to ride and one to exit" and she will be shown the way out. I will advise that you either make sure she has a cell phone or pick a spot outside the EXIT, not the entrance of the attraction to meet up after. Many attractions do not exit where you enter.

For Twilight Zone, make sure she is aware that a lot of that queue is, well, a mind, err. Well, it plays with your mind and for some, it's just a scary as that drop. For example, there are many people who think once you enter the library, that's when you drop. And there could be people in there who intentionally make the situation worse than what it is.

Great tips. Thank you! And no it's not scary for her it's a bad back so she can't do anything heavy. Thanks though and I'll make sure to tell her where to stand once she exits. Do any of the chicken doors go out anywhere different than the normal exits?

Not so much, but it can be a situation where you might miss seeing each other due to other guests, etc.
If each party has a cell phone there will be no problems.

Of course let her wait. She can hold the snacks and beverages. Some of those lines cut into snack time.

Yeah we'll probably do the cell phones. I just hate carrying mine into the park cause I have this problem where if I get a work email or text I answer it. It's a terrible problem for me lol.

You could buy a "no-contract" cell phone for about $25 and use it at WDW.
No temptation to work because nobody at work would have your number.

I'm the family chicken.. Depends upon where we are if I wait in line with the family. I won't go on RNRC but there is a nice outdoor QS place right by the ride and usually I'll just take a nice people watching and soda time... peaceful... Oh and I've also waited and used the chicken exit too! CM's are really nice about it.

We found texting to be good while in the parks. Also, I changed any of my work number people's ring tones to this long obnoxious scream so while I'm on vacation, I just cut them off. You could set your nana's tone to something totally different from everyone else so once she called, you'd know it. I've had lots of people just bust up laughing when my husband calls me - his ringtone is the theme to Walker Texas Ranger. My mother-in-law's is a VERY loud - "IT'S YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW, IT'S YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW!" and she laughs when I play it for her because we get along so well.

Haha that's awesome and a good idea. I could probably take my email off too just while I'm down there and turn it back on when I get home. You know if I can make myself haha. I've got clients and I have to turn them over for the week and I don't trust anyone to take care of them the way I do lol but there's nothing worse than working when you're on vacation especially at disney.
