Waiting in line but not riding?

I have a friend who is planning a trip to Universal and does not plan to ride anything, but might want to stand in line with her family. I have read somewhere (probably here :)) that you can bail at the last minute on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and told her I would ask it she could do that on any of the other rides.

And anything anyone could add about the Universal "experience" for non-riders would also be helpful. She really doesn't want to go since she gets sick on almost everything and we are trying to get her to look at the positives side of things so she can relax and have some fun.

There is a chicken exit on every ride. Many people use them.

There are quite a few show type experiences that she can do. Poseidan's Fury, Sinbad, Ollivanders, BeatleJuice, Twister, stationary seats on Shrek and Despicable Me, Disaster, Terminator, Animal Actor's show, BeetleJuice, Horror Make Up Show should all work for her.

She can probably ride ET and High in the Sky Seuss Trolley.

Thanks for the reply. She'll be happy to hear that she won't be spending most of her day sitting outside waiting for everyone else to ride.

If you sit in the stationary seats on Minion Mayhem would it be like watching a movie? And if it is, is the movie full of swoops and motion-sickness inducing stuff? She says she likes the Minions.

It would be like watching a movie in Shrek and Minion Mayhem. Terminator is more a live action show. The 3D movies on Shrek and Minion Mayhem will have some stuff like you mention. However, she can close her eyes or look to the side of the theatre when that happens or not even really watch the movie at all but just enjoy the experience. She could also just not put on the 3D glasses and have that work as well. The pre shows are very cute and worth experiencing. There is a fun dance party after the ride that she'll like. It involves minions.

Has she tried Bonine? I get very motion sick and bonine really, really makes a huge difference without making me sleepy at all.

I have been pushing Bonine, but she is skeptical. I've still got two weeks to work on her though. :goodvibes

If 3D bothers her, ask a cast member for the special glasses that let in only one image. I never use them, but heard that they exist.

We think part of the fun is waiting in line.
No, we are definantly not that patient, but found it interesting to look at all of the things we only noticed as we walked right past them the first time!
I especially love ET because of the "forest" you walk through!
If she does end up waiting, there are many candy stores!

DH has a-fib and to be on the safe side did not go on HP. First trip on HP, I told him all the things he was missing inside Hogwart's. The next year, he walked with me to see everything but was able to take the exit which led to the gift shop and I met him outside.
