Waiting in line, but not going on the ride

Hi, my boyfriend is very afraid of heights, but is considering a few different rides that might be out of his comfort zone. I want to give him a chance to change his mind if he decides he can't handle it. Are there any rides that won't allow you to wait in line with your family and then wait for them after they ride? Specifically considering Rock n Roll Coaster, Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Seven Dwarves Mind Train.

They don't force anyone onto a ride against their will.

lol I know, but I wasn't sure if some were just super inconvenient and a hassle for the cast members.
No problem. If someone doesn't want to ride, they want don't want you on there. Just have him say he's decided against riding and they'll direct him from there. It won't be a problem at all.

Funny you should say that. A few years ago when my daughter was around 6 years old, it was her first time to ride the Haunted Mansion. We went through the stretching room pre-show, and it really scared her. At that point she really did not want to ride the ride. As we left the stretching room I asked one of the CMs if we could exit instead of riding. She pointedly said that there was no way to exit at this point and that my daughter would have to ride.

I don’t know why she told you that. Makes no sense. There is always a way out.

It is no worries at all. My husband and I always wait in line with our kids for Star Tours, but we never ride. They just show us to the hallway where we can wait for our kids. :-)

That's what I plan on doing for ToT next week. I absolutely hate drops, and since that's pretty much all ToT is, over and over and over, there's no way I'm riding! So since I'd have to wait for the rest of my family while they go on, I plan to stand in line to enjoy the theming of the queue.

I was just thinking about the exit at HM! But at Disneyland...
My daughter had the same reaction as yours after the stretching room. We were allowed to exit at the loading portion of the ride but we had to be escorted down several long hallways and staircases by a (very nice!) CM to get out.

Yeah that’s probably the one ride I can think of that it’s not easy. Partly because the ride is underground, partly because you don’t load and unload at the same spot. Almost any other ride (at DL) there is either an actual exit or they will have you step through a ride vehicle to the unloading side where the exit is.

In the hallway after guests exit the stretching room, there is a doorway with the sign seen below...

I have noticed lately there seems to be an epidemic of CMs giving "bad" information. First it was inconsistent CMs on rider switch, now this. I had two enormously frustrating back-to-back calls with CMs on two issues where they gave me wrong info and I had to call guest services to get it corrected. First, they told me that I could not modify my package reservation to add a day without cancelling my entire reservation (and waiting two weeks for my refund) and rebooking it even though the expanded dates were clearly available online and I had close to three months to go. Next, they told me I could not change my cash reservation for CRT to dining plan credits after I added the dining plan, even though guest services told me they do that all the time. Bottom line, if instructions you are given seem clearly illogical and wrong, just politely ask to speak to a manager.

Welcome to WDW in the 21st century. A theme park full of low cost, part time college program labor at your service. I took the family to Cedar Point for our first time ever last month ($55 a ticket) and was amazed at how much friendlier and more knowledgeable the staff seemed there than at Disney. I never thought I'd see the day that happened, but it's true.

As for exiting a ride queue, fire code would certainly mandate an exit. What if there were a fire? Should we then quickly ride the whole thing to get out? Crazy.

There is actually a chicken exit right after you leave the stretching room. It's a really cute hallway that takes you right out to the exit of the mansion.

There is a harmless strategy for dealing with any customer service employee who is not complying with your request. "HUCA" stands for "hang up and call again", and recognizes the fact that callers receive different levels of service depending on who answers your call.

I just used this with changing a flight for my Dad. He booked his flight home after a cruise too early, and UA's rules wanted required $375 to change it. I called, asked for an exception, and was understandably refused. I tried HUCA, and agent I spoke with on the second call made an exception to change the flight without a fee.
