Waiting for SWA to open its Dec/Jan fares thread!

Hey dlrhine,
Yes I could see where you wouldn't want to drive the surekill!!! For us,
(we're halfway between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre) it's a straight shot down 476
northeast extension of turnpike and then just a couple miles on 95N (another
bad one) to PHL. We actually live only two miles from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton airport but can't get any decent flights (times or price)
out of there so our last few trips we've been flying SW of PHL. Friends of our
live very close to Bensalem in Fairless Hills. Hopefully, we won't be waiting too much longer for our return schedule!!

Donna

Has anybody phoned SWA today to try and get some idea when the next set of fares will be released?
Suzy V.

I just talked to SWA at 6pm edt and given the "comes from headquarters" - though she said speculation would be in a couple of weeks. Personnally, I am hoping for tomorrow :flower:

We are looking for BWI to MCO for Dec. 26 - 30. :grouphug:

Count me in again. I hope the wait isn't as difficult as we had for the Nov. dates. I'm hoping for tomorrow at 10:00 (since last time it was a Thurs. at 10:00)

just checked, still not available, and I am heading out the door shortly to go the beach for the day (with another family or else I would put it off a couple of hours)!!

PLEASE someone post if they do become available!!
Thank you
Suzy V.

:rolleyes1 At least you got to go to the beach today. Good call.

seems as if they open dates within 5 months of the actual. I'm looking for fares to/from MCO in April for spring break (we're out week of 4/10) and of course, everyone else's fares are over $300/pp.

Any idea when they would put out April 2006 fares just so I can mark my calendar? Of course, being that it's the Easter break for most people, I'm sure that even when they put them out, they will still be high.

Does anyone have experience with spring break fares? We're thinking of a cruise so I can go out of Port Canaveral, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa depending on the fare.

Thanks.

I guess I was hoping that today WN would release some more dates (Dec 13-mid Jan), but obviously not. Since the systemwide sale doesn't end until Aug 4 (next Thursday), should I assume that the next set of dates probably won't be released until the Thursday after that (Thursday Aug 11)? It would be great if they released next Thursday though since then I could purchase at systemwide sale prices, couldn't I?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Suzy V.

Does anyone know if SWA ALWAYS extends their schd. on Thursdays???

Wouldn't you know, I have volunteered at a day camp for the next two weeks (8:30- 6 pm). If the schd. is only released on Thursdays, perhaps I could sneek away for an hour to come home and check on Thursday.

I'm joining in on your SW wait as well. Looking for CLE to MCO 12/17 to 12/23, also waiting for Airtran to drop their rates and see who's the cheapest.

Help me out here - I'm new to this...What's Ding rates? We want to fly SWA DEc. 4-11 and the rate is $99 - $109. Will it get any better or should I book now?

Ding is a program from SW's site that you can download to your PC, no Mac versions available if I've read correctly. It will periodically, sometimes 2 -3 times a day, present you with alerts for airfare. They don't always have the airport you may need, but it's a good way to find the lower airfares. I did see a few that I'd take IF they had been for my December dates.

Thanks momsgoofy, I just went on the sight and tried to download it, but you need a zip code and we are Canadians flying out of Buffalo. Is there anyway to get around this and find out about the Buffalo ding rates? Also what's a good rate to fly from Buffalo to MCO? This is our first time.

You can try the US Postal Service website to get the zip code for Buffalo...then plug it in and your all set, good luck!

OK try 14201 I just looked it up for you.

You might want to start a thread with your dates on the DIS Canadian board. A lot of Canadians fly out of BUF. perhaps someone over there will have a good idea about what a good price would be with those dates. Last year we flew out of BUF (but over Christmas) and we paid about $200 US each. But perhaps with your dates you will get a cheaper price. Hopefully someone on the Canadian board will be of more help.

Waiting on Kansas City to MCO for December 17th to 27th. This is killing me! I have a credit waiting with SW from a cancelled trip we were suppose to be going on Aug. 5th. Said goodbye to the heat and hello to Christmas and nice weather. Come on SW!!! :cheer2:
