Waited Listed for HH for Spring Break

We have been wait listed for the first week of April at HH. We have stayed there several times in the past (during that week) and have never been wait listed.

Should I wait it out or make a cash reservation?

My wait list for April 10, 11, and 12 (studio) just came through today. I made it on the 7th month mark back in September... so there's hope!!

I waitlisted for a studio at HHI last week. I asked for two different four night stays: April 6-10 and April 11-15. I figured there was no way I would get either one!

Today, I received an email notifying me that I know have a studio for three nights, April 6-9. I am still waiting for the fourth night, but I canceled my other four night waitlist.

This is just a question about the operation of waitlists. From what you state here, it seems that they'll do a partial match. Is that true?

Maybe there's hope yet! We'll wait it out until Christmas and see what happens. I'm a planner and don't like to wait too long to make reservations.

What size villa did you waitlist for? There are few 1 BRs and studios, but if you had to waitlist for a 2 BR, sounds like HHI is getting increasingly busy and is sold out then.

Yes, they did for me. I did not request it, and I was surprised that they did give me the partial dates. Not sure what their rule of thumb is, but I would doubt they would have given me just one day out of the four if only one was available.

Maybe if 75% of the dates are available (in a row?) they give you the 75%? The waitlistee can always turn it down later (outside of 31 days before).

Hopefully more folks with more waitlist experience will chime in.

Huh...We booked BLT for Nov 18-27 (Thanksgiving week) in a 1 bdrm at exactly 11 months. Less than a week later, we decided we should get a 2 bdrm. Called, nothing. Been wait listed since and nothing. I'm very surprised! We figured it must be because the wait list is for all or nothing and since our reservation is more than a week long, it was harder to fill. I wish they would have given us the option to take a shorter stay in a 2 bdrm because we probably would have just adjusted our travel around the reservation, especially if it only meant 7 out of 9 nights, or something similar.

Wow! It sounds like Thanksgiving at HHI is no longer "the best kept secret". Hearing your story makes me so glad that we bought points there for Thanksgiving and always book our 1 BR at exactly 11 months. Wouldn't be Thanksgiving for us without our pie from Signe's Bakery!

Just to clarify, our reservation/wait list was for BLT, not HHI.

There are 21 1BR's and 76 2BR's at HHI.... your chances are WAY better for a 2 BR than to try and get 2 1BR's.

Have you double checked that you are still on the wait list for the 10th? They will normally not fill a wait list partially so I am wondering if maybe it was entered wrong and that is why it filled.
