So, saving money for Disney is getting difficult. I took my minivan in Monday because it smelled like it was burning oil. The driver's side window had stopped working again, the front brakes needed work, and my little fob wasn't working and air conditioner was not working as well as I would like. They called me back and said it would be $3000 to fix everything.
I began to prioritize. I can live without rolling my window down (saved $600) and the other 3 windows work so I can live without the air conditioner (saved $180). When I added it up, I then came to $1400. I don't know how he came up with $3000. I had a coupon for 10% off. So, it was around $1260 total. When I went to pick it up, they charged me $40 more and I asked why and was told that the coupon had a max value of $100. I said, that wasn't stated on the coupon...so he gave me another $40 off. Yes, I am happy that my brakes work and the engine isn't burning oil. However, I paid for the fob and didn't get it yet. I have to go back Saturday. I am really tired of having to use the key to unlock the door. Spoiled, I know, but I live in a state where it is illegal to pump your own gas, so we get used to being spoiled. You don't really realize how you take that little fob for granted.
Marissa went to prom. She had a great time. I spent most of the morning and afternoon at the local beauty schools. There is one, with 2 campuses. One campus did hair, but not makeup and the other did makeup but not hair on Saturdays. So, we went to do hair first. She got a cute updo for $15. We then rushed to the other campus for makeup. The makeup counters in JCPenney and Macy's were charging $40 or were saying they would do it with a $50 purchase. So, we went beauty school and she got it done for $5. She was pleased.
Marissa is in Beauty and the Beast musical at her high school. The performance fee is $80 or she can presell tickets. Anyway, at a certain point you have to turn in your tickets and whatever money. So, if you sold $40 in tickets, you would need to only pay $40 for the performance fee. I asked my aunts if they wanted tickets, because they usually do. They each asked for one. So, I had to turn in the tickets on Monday. I usually take $80 worth of tickets and give them away if I have to. Either way, I pay $80, I may as well have the extra tickets. Lucky for me. On Tuesday, both aunts emailed me. One aunt needs 4 extra tickets. (The price goes up on the tickets as well after the turn in date.). The other needs 1 more, possibly 4 more. I am thankful I got the extra tickets, but there will still be 1 or 2 I have to pay for at the non discounted cost. They had 2 weeks to decide. Why wait until the day after? I don't get it. But, at least they are going.
Not much to update on regarding the trip. I am sticking with the Yacht Club. I think Chelsea lost my camera, so she is going to be searching for that tonight. I should have a shipment from Disney.com in the next day or two.
I emailed my TA about using Disney Gift Cards to pay. She wasn't thrilled with the idea, so I figured 10 weeks before it needs to be paid off, I will just email her 6 numbers each week, so it isn't too much of a hassle. Nope, she emailed me back and said she would rather have them all at once. She also said to hold on to the gift cards, because if I need a refund on anything (trip gets cancelled) that they will credit the gift cards used, and if you don't have the gift cards, you are out of luck. I don't understand why they wouldn't issue another gift card. Anyway, I will be keeping my numerous gift cards until after the trip.
