:cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

i bought two new blankets yesterday and will be getting the air mattress this weekend!!! along with tickets to Great america!!!

CAN. NOT. WAIT!!!!

I have a cute story - one of my co-workers is on her way to Disney right now - and I made t-shirts for her 2 kids - her son is 13 and I wasn't sure he would wear a "special" shirt, so I embroidered "My Mom made me wear this shirt" on it and appliqued a Minnie head on her daughter's shirt - Gracie is 7 and this is her first trip to WDW. I got a text message from her yesterday that said "Ray smiled when he saw the shirt, thought it was really cool how you made and said he would wear it in Disney. Grace nearly burst into tears with excitement when she saw her shirt! Asked if there was a washer in our hotel room so she could wear it more than once . Thank you!"

Made my day!

She sent me a picture of the kids wearing their shirts today - they were so cute!

Looks like we have another change of plans.....

We are driving from PA to FL, leaving on a Saturday - very early, so that we get through Washington DC and northern VA before traffic picks up on I-95. We are debating whether we will be able to drive straight through or if we will need to stop somewhere near Jacksonville for the night before we head to Universal Studios. We are planning to stay off-site at a Comfort Inn for the first 3 or 4 nights (4 if we drive straight through). We have a really good deal that we cannot pass up at the Comfort Inn - as in "free". We had originally planned to go to Universal for 3 days, but honestly, I'm not sure I could do 3 days at Universal. We could do 2 days, regardless of when we arrive and then head over to our happy place for an extra day before our scheduled arrival. We have annual passes so an extra day is not going to be a problem and will actually be a savings since we won't have to buy a 3rd day ticket at UP.

Charlie wants to have dinner at the Biergarten and we don't currently have that on our schedule of ADRs, so regardless of whether we do 2 or 3 days at UP, we can go to Epcot for dinner.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Hummm... More fun!!!!
i think you should do Biergarten on the 7th about 1:50ish.... Just sayin... I know there will be a family there having a good time you might like... :lmao:

now you have me thinking... hummmm....

We have been to Biergarten for dinner before so I'm looking forward to it again. Just need to decide if the plans are going to work out.

Here is an update from Kat's Dad - he posted this on facebook today:

Today is my last day as Katriana's non medical attendant (NMA). Truth be told, she hasn't needed me much over the past month, and that's a good thing. Physically, she is doing very well. She has this horrendous looking wound in her abdomen where the ostomy bag was removed, but it is healing as it should, with no sign of infection. She's moved into some new digs at Walter Reed, so getting to just about everything but the store is more convenient to her now.

Her next steps are mostly getting back to therapies for post stroke daily living. Physical therapy and occupational therapy are pretty common, and she is at this moment at a driving therapy appointment, so eventually she can get on the road again someday. She's riding her bicycle, practicing for the Wounded Warrior games in Norfolk next month. They want her to take a 5-week cognitive therapy course in July, to try to help her with some of the brain injury aspects of the stroke, like some memory issues, and for that she might need a NMA again to assist her in that and the practicing she needs to do along with it. But otherwise, she's really taking care of herself, washing dishes and clothes even without being prompted!

And I'll take all of this, over how she was immediately post stroke. One year and 9 days ago, she was trapped in a hospital bed in Guam, unable to speak or move anything on her right side, and was slowly bleeding to death. I'm glad at the progress she's made, and look forward to a complete recovery one day!

First, I agree - I think you should join Mo and family at Biergarten. :thumbsup2 Yay for more Disney time... I am with you - I am not sure I could do 3 days at US... However, I have yet to do ONE - so maybe I am not the right person to ask? LOL

And YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy to have that update about Kat!!! I cannot believe it's been over a year already! She is always in my thoughts and prayers!

D~

Just giving u a heads up.... I live right in the middle of NOVA and DC and they are doing tons of construction to extend HOV and add lanes etc... not sure how early u were planning on leaving but traffic has been 10x more horrendous than usual so u might want to leave even earlier lol

Thanks for the heads up - we drove down to Florida in March, but we left home at 4:30 am and missed the worst of the traffic going down. We came back on a Sunday and saw the construction going on. I really wish there was a good alternative to using I-95 but there really isn't one.

It's been that long?!?! a year???

I still say she is the most amazing strong woman ever. Kat has been in my prayers and will continue to be!!!

5 days!!!

Just wanted to tell you to have a fabulous time in Chicago with those wacky girls!! I'll be watching the news reports to see if any of you show up!:lmao:

I'm so glad Kat is doing so well. It IS hard to believe it was a little over a year ago we started praying for her. Wow! I love that she is doing so well and will, in time, be even better.

I do like the changes you made with your ADRs. I think dinner at the Biergarten would be fabulous, especially if Charlie loves it so. I've never eaten there, but it is on our short list to try. And I've never been to Universal, but I would think two days would be enough.:confused3

Have a great flight and be safe!!

Just a brief update since I have some Disney news....

First - I had a wonderful time in Chicago at the Epic Dismeet. Mo, D~ and Suzi are amazing! We had so much fun. I'm glad they didn't mind the old lady tagging along with them!

Kat update - she is doing amazingly well. Currently in Norfolk, VA at the Wounded Warrior Games. She is having so much fun!

Now to the Disney news - we had decided to cut our Universal days a bit short since I didn't think we would need 3 days there, so........ Charlie wanted to have dinner at Biergarten - one of his favorites so I made reservations there for Tuesday and then checked on room availability so we would not have to drive back to Universal after dinner - We got a great deal on a room at...................................:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:pixiedust:pixiedust::wave2::wave2::wave2::faint:.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................:duck::furious::rolleyes2.................................................................................................................Pop Century!!!!! We stayed there for one night in March and its a fun resort, so we added another night at our Happy Place!

I also finally purchased the Memory Maker.

I need to still make reservations for our Universal days at the Comfort Inn and purchase tickets for those parks. All because I want to see Harry Potter.......

WOoOooOOOoOOoo-HooOOOoOOOooOOo for more Disney time!

Thanks Terri! We are :yay::yay::yay::yay:too!

My running shoe store is having a tent sale next weekend. I plan to go buy another pair of walking shoes and stock up on socks for Charlie and me.

We are going to see Maleficent tonight :love:.

Also, Jim arrived back in PA yesterday. Now starts the car and house searches. His first task is to buy a new car and he needs to find a house fairly soon because his "stuff" will be arriving from Hawaii in a couple of weeks and he will have to pay for storage until he gets a place of his own. I'm so happy to have him back here again and I know he is happy to be back "home".

Today's plans include the never ending yard work and I hope to get to my sewing room. I have lots of projects to work on.....including a very special princess dress for an adorable munchkin.

Yay for another night on Disney property. We have stayed at Pop a couple of times and when we stay at a value, it's our first choice. In fact, that's where we're staying in September!!:cool1:

Hey, you may be older chronologically than the other girls, but around here that doesn't mean a thing. We are all young at heart. Of course you fit right in!

Is your running shoe store Second Sole maybe? That's where we go and I'll have to check if they're having a sale since I'm going to get a new pair of shoes before our trip. Thanks to Terri, I have a free pair of Thorlos on their way to my house! I'm thinking I may need a slightly larger size shoe to accommodate them.:confused3

So glad Jim is back in PA! It must have been so hard for him to leave all those memories behind, but the best ones he'll always have with him. I hope he finds a home right away. A car is fairly easy to find, especially for a guy!:rotfl: If you don't mind saying, where in PA do you live?

I hear you on the yard work. We were late getting our flowers in and our mulch as well. We spread the mulch yesterday and Dan planted flowers last weekend. Lots of hard work, but so rewarding when it's done!

Ooooh, I want to see Maleficent so badly!! How did you like it? I've heard nothing but good things about it. Sounds like you're having a fabulous weekend so far. Hope it continues.

Our running shoe store is called Flying Feet. I'm not sure they are part of a chain, though.

We live in a small town right on the Mason-Dixon line just north of Baltimore, called New Freedom.

I hear you on the yard work. We were late getting our flowers in and our mulch as well. We spread the mulch yesterday and Dan planted flowers last weekend. Lots of hard work, but so rewarding when it's done!

I got the veggies in the garden and flowers planted in pots 2 weekends ago, but now we are pulling weeds and spreading mulch in the existing flower beds. Charlie has been out of town for the last several weeks and has to cut grass on the weekends.

Ooooh, I want to see Maleficent so badly!! How did you like it? I've heard nothing but good things about it. Sounds like you're having a fabulous weekend so far. Hope it continues.

I've seen it twice now and it is a fabulous movie! Going to the baseball game today with Jim!
