Hi- first timer at Universal, very excited to check it all out. I got a pretty good AP rate for RPR, which includes the express pass for everyone in the room. We’re going in July, on a weekend (7-9), and will really need the express pass! When looking at wait times on touring plans or on the Universal app, how much quicker are the express lines? We will most likely only go one day in the parks—I’ll have an AP and think I’ll get one day two park tix for DH and DS, which if they want another day we can always upgrade.
Thanks for any help!

The EP lines are definitely a lot quicker, in general we’ve never waited longer than 20mi utes in an EP line and it’s usually 5-10.

Just FYI in case you didn’t know- you’ll get the EP for the day you check in through the day you check out in case you did want multiple park days. If you can I’d say do 2 days since that’s a lot of ground to cover in 1 day even with EPs.

Like gotomu said, I would say that with the EP you should expect to wait 5-10 minutes. I've waited around 20 minutes for Simpsons before. One word of warning: Jimmy Fallon's Race Through New York will take a long time to complete. The EP will get you into the waiting room, but then you have to wait for your color to be called. We've waited up to 30 minutes in the waiting room and then another 10 or so in line before actually getting to the preshow. For that reason, I tend to make JF a priority and ride it early. (I don't really care for the ride, but my kiddo loves it.)

It sounds like you have a touring plans subscription based on your first post. There is an option to tell it you have EP and it will give you those estimated wait times. I agree with others that it's typically 5-10 mins and a rare ride that had a 20-30 min wait. Minions was like that for us the Tues before Thanksgiving.

Wait times with EP are minimal at most rides. The longest we've waited recently was at King Kong. The other day the standby was 55 minutes and we waited about 15- so it definitely cut down our wait time.

Agree with PPs. 5-10 minutes on average for us, with the big exceptions being Simpsons (long pre-show), Fallon due to the virtual queue, and Kong which always seems to go down or they don't filter the crowds right leading to big EP waits. We waited a good 30 minutes last trip. Just our experience.

Hi I go in the summer months (usually July) and always have EP. I can tell you the summer months are going to have a little longer EP waits for some rides. Minions usually has a 90 minute stand-by and we usually wait at least 20-30 minutes in EP. I have to say with most of popular rides we usually wait closer to 20 -30 minutes mid day with a stand-by line of 60 -90 minutes. Of course the morning and evening hours will be a little less. Enjoy EP is awesome!
