Hi, we are WDW vets taking our first Disneyland trip this coming October. My DS 7 loooves going down the waterslides. At Universal's Hard Rock Hotel this summer he spent hours going down that slide and never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes each time. Which hotel would be best for this? I have Disneyland Hotel booked but read the pool is very crowded. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel Halloween weekend; resort was fully booked. The weather was great and we used the pool all 3 afternoons. There weren't many people using the pool. Not sure if earlier in October would be any more crowded.

I stayed at Grand Californian both times I've been to DL. The pools were packed enough that there were no open beach chairs the second time but it didn't feel too crowded. We waited between 5 and 10 minutes for the slide there. This was in August during D23 so I believe even though the hotels were packed most people were over at the convention.

I would definitely recommend the DLH pool if your son is a slide fan. Even on super crowded and hot summer days the slide wait isn't more than 5-10 minutes. You can also stay at the Grand and use the DLH pool so another option would be booking a cabana at the DLH pool for a day or half day. The pool at the Grand is nice too but slides are smaller and pool is smaller. I think it gets more crowded overall.

I booked the DLH for our trip last March for the pool and Monorail slides.
Very disappointed when we went to use the pool and slides one afternoon/evening to find out they CLOSE every day at 5pm.
The pool is open until 10pm but not the slides.

If you plan to use the Monorail slides after 5pm, you might check and see if those hours are still in effect.

As PP said, you can get a cabana at the other pool, but we've stayed after and let the kids play in the pool.

Could this be because it was March, do they do that also in the summer? Doesn't seem very fair...The reason I chose DLH was mostly because of the pool and slides...I guess we'll have to do our pool breaks at noon??o_O

When I asked the CM indicated that was the usual schedule. You should call and see what they say for the dates you'll be there.

During our trips to DLR, the parks tend to close at 8pm through the week.
I have a hard time, taking time from the parks for the grandkids to play on the pool slides.
