I’m still on hold
I don’t think I’ve ever been on hold this long with dcl, but I don’t usually call them so who knows. Unfortunately, I have a placeholder to apply that has two rooms.
I did finally get through and it was worth it because the CM with whom I spoke was incredible.
I don’t know if it is normal because I just don’t call DCL much. I figured there was something going on, summer 2027 cruises makes sense! I’m with @Sprinkles&Sprints I was dealing with a new booking for summer 2026! . I picked the wrong day to call.
I wish they had separate phone lines for booking new reservations and for questions/issues when already booked.
I was on a cruise 2/19-2/23 and I had to call twice last week with last minute concerns. The first time I waited an hour and 5 minutes but finally got through. The second time was the night before our cruise with an urgent problem with port transportation in the morning - I waited on hold for an hour 30 minutes and then the call just disconnected. When I tried to call back a recording said they were having an issue and to try again later, but by this point it was after their stated closing time. I was pretty stressed all night not being able to speak to someone about a very time sensitive issue for an existing cruise booking because the lines are so tied up with everyone booking new itineraries.
Just booked a last minute May cruise on the fantasy thru Costco travel this morning. Took 15 minutes. Costco travel answered the phone quickly and booked the cruise thru their system without having to involve DCL.

If I am using a placeholder, they have to call DCL. Just making a regular reservation, she did not. I was off the phone with her in just a few minutes. And she did not make a call to DCL - everything was done on her system.

Basically it’s like when you use dcl’s website. They do the same but they are on the phone with you. Also, I’ve booked with Costco over the web myself before. Same as using DCL website. Fast
Unfortunately I had to apply a placeholder with 2 rooms so I had to call DCL
I did end up transferring to Costco yesterday
Very smooth
