Wait listed for for BWV in December......Will we get in??

We had ressies for OKW Dec 3- Dec 9 for this year. But we decided we wanted to try BWV for this stay. We have never been placed on a wait list. We just called to switch to BWV from OKW. We were placed on a waitlist for a standard 1br view. We set up the ressie to be switched automatically if the 1br comes available at BWV. What are the chances of getting this 1br at BWV. Is it very common for a waitlist to come through for you? Also now that I think about it, will MS switch the ressie over if the 1br at BWV comes available for our entire stay or will they do it per night?

One Bedroom villas are reportedly the easiest size unit to book, so that may help. But only about 20% of the rooms at BWV are in the Standard class. Realistically there could be dozens of BWV owners already ahead of you on the waitlist--people who could only get Preferred View at 11-8 mos out and want to switch to the lower point room class.

As for how the waitlist occurs, you really should specify that when you ask to be placed on the list. They will either automatically book the new room or call you and give you 24 hours to respond or lose the waitlist room. And functionally they will either waitlist you for the entire trip (meaning that all nights must come available simultaneously) or you can do it day-by-day (meaning that each individual day will be moved as it is available.)

Day-by-day has the best chance for success but there's also the possibility of one or more days not coming through on the waitlist, leaving your trip split between multiple resorts.

For a waitlist 7 months out, I'd probably do the day-by-day thing with MS calling before booking. If you start getting some of your days in a couple of weeks, then it sounds like the chances of getting them all are very high. But if 4-5 months pass before they can even get you a single night at BWV, then I'd probably pass, assuming that the odds of getting all of your nights are slim.

I'd suggest deciding exactly what route you want to take and calling DVC back to make sure they have the proper instructions recorded.

Agree with tjkraz - I am not very optimistic re your waitlist chances at this point.

IMHO, the chances of the waitlist working for a standard view for 12/3 - 12/9 are very small. It could happen (I hope it does), but it isn't very probable. BWV owners call day by day at the 11 month window to get standard views for this time - I know there are already BWV owners ahead of you on the waitlist for some or all of those days.

How about waitlisting for the PV? I think you have a pretty good chance of getting that this far ahead. It'll cost more points, but if I wanted BWV this far out, that's what I would ask for. I was able to get a PV studio at BWV only 2 months out last year for 12/19-12/21, I was put on a waitlist, but it came through.

We really would prefer a 1br villa. We were spoiled after staying in one just once. LOL

We did request a courtesy call if a preferred view came available. However; we need to watch our points for next year's trips. So if all in all the wait list does not come through for us we are content to stay at OKW. Looks like we may end up adding on points for BWV very soon.

Sending good thoughts that you'll get your reservation. We are taking a big risk with our waitlist in December and some members of my family think I'm crazy, but I'm going to hope really hard that it pays off.

I had reservations at my home resort (SS) for Dec 3 - 11. I started calling day-by-day at exactly 9:00 a.m. at the 7 month mark to switch to the BCV. My parents are over there and we wanted to be close by. We need a two bedroom because my sister and her daughter are staying with us.

Here's what I have so far:

Dec. 3: confirmed at BCV
Dec. 4: waitlisted at BCV, still confirmed at SS
Dec. 5: confirmed at BCV
Dec. 6: waitlisted at BCV, still confirmed at SS
Dec. 7: waitlisted at BCV, still confirmed at SS
Dec. 8: waitlisted at BCV, still confirmed at SS
Dec. 9: confirmed at BCV
Dec. 10: calling tomorrow

I'm doing automatic confirmation for any day that becomes available. I'm optimistic about getting in for Dec. 10 because it's a weekend (more points that some people don't want to use) and as of today there were still units available although I know that can change.
