Wait List ?

I just wanted to double check that the following can be done--If I wait list a stay and it comes thru can the DVC Cm's switch my points around since the points booking the original reservation are points that need to be used first? Has anyone had any issues trying to do this? Any issues loosing your room while the CM's work on moving the points around?

Yes things can go wrong, not often but it can happen. You need to be very specific on what you want the CM to do with your points. The more you do, the greater the chances that something will go wrong, waitlists, moving points, reservations, even taking Disney vacations. At one time we were taking several WDW DVC vacations per year and 1 out of 4 rooms had issues. Now we take fewer vacations and our room luck has improved and we no longer do waitlists. We never lost a reservation while waitlisting but we did with the MS CM while on the phone.

I was also wondering if it would be better to book the days available and waitlist the day missing and then have the CM's adjust your points using the older ones first or should just waitlist one whole week for another because then the old points would be used to book the room waitlisted correct?

You will have a better chance the fewer number of days waitlisted.

Just to be clear, don't borrow points to make a new reservation and expect them to be swapped out and returned to a different use year later. If you have enough current year points to reserve both rooms, then go ahead and do what you're talking about, but don't put yourself in a position where points need to be moved. Member Services will fix their own mistakes, but not your mistakes.
