For not getting a wait list. We waitlisted several years ago for a SSR two bedroom instead of the one bedroom we had reserved. We got on the wait list about four months before our trip. No success.

We waitlisted in Sept for a BLT one bedroom - Lake View - for this coming weekend for the marathon (three nights only). It did not come through.

My guess is that you waited too late for BLT. We were able to get into it for a 5 night stay over the Marathon weekend in 2010. However, we got on the waitlist right at 7 months out.

The one waitlist that I've been on at the 7 months mark that so far I haven't gotten is for 5 nights at HH, 2 bedroom for Holy Week this year.

Sorry Deb. It's not just you. We have wait listed almost every trip since 2003 and never had it go through. We have gone a couple of times in early December but all of the others have been "lighter" DVC times. Oh well, one day.....

Sorry Deb, that stinks.

Fortunately, my family has never taken a "last minute" trip or any kind of trip quicker than seven months out....we have always booked at the 7 month mark & we have never, ever been placed on the Waitlist. (Knock on wood now).

Not "stinky" at all. ;) Just wanted to let new members know that the waitlist doesn't always happen.

OKW is always a choice for us. BLT just would have been convenient for the marathon.

At times, there does seem to be some undue optimism around waitlists coming through. ;)

But it never hurts to try. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't!

Enjoy your trip! :)

We too waitlisted for blt, but it seems almost imposible unless you do it at the seven month mark.

Marathon weekend is a tough one. I think most people do not cancel although we did get lucky last year with getting our waitlist for a BW studio the night of the Marathon. I do remember BLT not being available at 7 months last year for that weekend.

Waitlists for my last two trips did not come through, and I had them for almost 7 months. Used to have good luck with them. I think it's just that the waitlists are much longer now.

My last two 7 month waitlists did not come through either.

Guess I have been pretty lucky! Waitlisted for BWV studio for December '10 trip and it came thru. In December saw a great airfare so I waitlisted for BLT studio lake view for February and that has come thru.
Hoping some pixie dust comes your way for your trip! Enjoy

Sorry about your luck. We have only had to wait list once and that was when I tried to change rooms and in the minute it took to cancel the old and book the new, I lost the old.

So, I had to wait list it back and it showed up within a day (which makes me think that the CM may have done something wrong).

I am going to be trying for a BW view 2 bedroom for the first two nights of our August trip and know I will have to wait list as that is a long shot so we will see how it goes for me!

Counting the trip we are currently on, we are batting 0 for 6 on waitlists. It is one area that I am very disappointed that Disney has never "fixed" to be fair.

This past Christmas trip was the FIRST time I had a waitlist come through and it was for BLT LV. I've tried numerous other trips and none has ever come through so I feel your pain Deb.

That's an amazing statistic. Are you referring to the fact that callers get in while if you were on the waitlist, you're out of luck? I agree that this glitch should be fixed to be fair.

I thought if a points room gets cancelled, the "system" checks the waitlist, in the order members signed up for the waitlist, and it is only if none of those waitlist requests match that the cancelled night(s) are put into the system where they could be booked by someone calling in.

However, the waitlist does have to be an exact match. If you waitlist for three nights and only two are available your waitlist will not come through. If you are waitlisted for a preferred view and a standard view becomes available the waitlist will not come through etc.

I was told that MS does manually review the waitlist matches, so that they can take care of things associated with the waitlist like cancelling a reservation at a different resort and using those points for the reservation that came through under the waitlist. However, I do not think that room is available for call in booking while that review is pending.

I would appreciate any corrections if I am wrong.

I know this is a little OT from the OP's question, but it seems appropriate based on the most recent responses.

Just wanted to let new members know that the waitlist doesn't always happen.

As a newbie, just wanted to say thank you for this thread. If I ever waitlist, I'l jutt hope for the best and plan for the worst. But I'll be at Disney staying in DVC...so it'll still be great!

There were some changes made to the waitlist rules a couple of years ago. It used to be you had the option of waitlisting each night, so your waitlist could come through in pieces but you can no longer do that, all the dates have to come through at one time, which makes it harder. You are also limited to 2 active waitlists, I'm not sure what it was before. I'm lucky, I've never had to waitlist so I have no personal experiences. There was only one time that I called and could not get what I wanted - that was for a Sunday night in mid October, I called 3 weeks prior. Nothing was available, any resort, any room size. So I booked POFQ on points (this was before the $95 fee).

I've been told that waitlists are filled at a designated time in the day, once per day, by the computer( can we say batch file). That is why others will call and get available inventory before your waitlist has a chance to be filled by the computer. So in the future, I would continue to call as well as waitlist.
