Wait List Success?

Following JenG's tactic of wait listing one date at a time, are we allowed to reserve a room on the same night at two dif resorts? I have a week at SSR currently booked and have wait listed the same dates for AKL and WLV. I've been on the wait list since March. I kno the prob is the large # of nights I'm trying for.

Am I able to use unused points to snag a single nite - front or back of my trip dates - while I keep my SSR ressie as backup? If so, then implement JenG's tactic of only wait listing one night at a time in sequential order (front to back or back to front pending which night you were able to make an actual hard ressie on) until I have the entire trip or at least half?

You can do that trixie08. You said you have unused points to use. Just be sure to keep an eye on banking deadlines if you want to bank the extra reservation's points.

Congrats! I'm glad your waitlist was a short wait!

I also just released a 2 bedroom dedicated villa at SSR on the night of the 16th, just this morning. So, somebody else got a day off their waitlist, too!

Bobbywoz, thx for the reply. One more question since MS gives me differing answers. Can I make this "duplicate" ressie at the other resort under my name & family info or do I need to use a fictitious family that is "traveling with me" but not staying at SSR with me?

You can not have the same person as the lead guest. If your SSR reservation has you as lead, list someone else as lead on the new room. This should be fine.

Dh and i have been members for a little less than 2 years now and about to go on our 4th trip in 27 days! Anyway, first 2 trips were on developer points at SSR, so no waitlists necessary. 3rd trip we made a bunch of changes and wound up still at BLT, but with a lake view when we really wanted standard to save pts. Waitlist never came thru, but the room was great so we didn't dwell. This upcoming trip - I've lost track of how many changes we've made. We booked, then changed resorts, then I got 60 days notice of being laid off, so we changed dates and then I waitlisted because in the end we were at OKW with an almost 9moth old, and between needing to use a packnplay not a second bed and needing to do the stroller on a bus debacle, we really wanted to switch to BLT or at least an EPCOT resort. I called several times and waitlisted for BWV (because it was the most likely on least pts I thought) and it came thru on the 30 day mark, so some other DVCer must have cancelled a trip somewhere to get us ours. So, we're 1 for 2 on waitlists and on our 4th trip we're trying our 3rd DVC resort. So far we're pretty happy!

Good luck disprincessatheart. As I mentioned before my Oct. wait list came through so I hope that something comes through for you. If it doesn't I will mention that we were at WDDW in May with my son, DDiL, and 10 month old grandson. We were at SSR and had to do "the bus thing", but it worked fine for us. We've been members for a little over 2 years now and have stayed at 4 DVC resorts. WE've been very happy with our membership so far.
I'm now on another waitlist for our January trip. We're waitlisted for BWL standard view for Jan. 3,4,5. We'd like to try BWV and for this visit all of our ADRs are in the BW area so it would really help.

Bah!

Been on the waitlist for a 2 bed at BCV for 9th and 10th October (got 11th to 15th) since January 14th a whopping NINE months in advance and still no joy. Just goes to show that even having home resort advantage is insufficient for F&W you need to get in there at 11 months on the dot!

Thought I might have got them at the 7 month shuffle but at the moment am stuck at OKW for those 2 nights before the move to BCV.

Heres hoping for success at the 30 day mark!

My waitlist night for Kidani 10/28 just came through! Just thrilled about it! To fill in my ressie I booked the 2bdrm night for cash at recommendation of MS. They said they would link it to my other nights and I would not have to move. But they were pretty sure that the WL would come thru. They said that as people buy in more points are freed up for use by members. (Taken out of DVC inventory). This made sense to me -- but the thought of $705 for the night (+ tax) did not thrill me. Well, when I checked last night on-line -- there it was!!!

So, we are all set for out complete stay as of now. Everything else will fall into place. With two toddlers along, I did not want to be room-less at nap time.
