Wait list questions

I just called to see if I could add on 2 nights in a studio at Boardwalk, (for the 24th and 25th of Jan). The person I spoke with told me they had nothing available. I had to ask if I could be put on a wait list.

I am kind of concerned about how it all happened. She didn't ask if I would take any view, or any other suggestions or comments. She also didn't ask or offer any other resorts. She just said they would call if anything became available. She didn't even reconfirm that she had the right dates. :confused3

After doing some reading on here, it seems that auto confirm is also a possibility, which was never suggested to me.

Is this going to work? Or do I need to call back in a few days to make certain I am actually ON a wait list and for the correct days?

In addition, what are my chances for getting a Wed and Thursday in a studio at Boardwalk? I am guessing this is really off season? Anyone got a crystal ball? ;)

Good luck! Did you try for any other resort?

No, I didn't try for anything else. Somehow I ended up feeling kind of rushed off the phone. :sad2:

I am surprised the person I spoke with didn't offer any suggestions or comments at all. She didn't even ask if I would take any of the studios or just the lower point one.

I am a real newbie when it comes to all this stuff. This was the first time I ever tried to waitlist and didn't know the first thing about all the ins and outs.

I am planning on calling back on Monday and have them to the auto confirm so I can at least keep an eye on it online and keep my fingers crossed.

I would definitely call back. It doesn't hurt to reconfirm. I had a cast member question me about my choices as if I was a complete fool. I followed up with an e-mail. However, since your call seemed vague, I would call them directly!

I called for reservations the 14th of November for a January trip (MLK weekend) and I asked for a studio at any resort. Not too particular, I have my favorites, but at such a short notice for a holiday weekend plus low points, I'll take whatever is available. Turns out that SSR was the only resort that had availability for Sat. & Mon., but not on Sun. I waitlisted for a studio at SSR for that Sunday. Just checked the DVC website and looks like the it came through. So, it took about 8 days for the waitlist to work.

I've waitlisted quite often and have managed to have all of my rooms come in except one (F & W festival plus Jersey week spells limited rooms plus a few other things :bitelip: ). I only do automatic confirmation. I don't want to hassle with the phone calls!

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply and comments. I am definitely calling back tomorrow when they are open again.

I just wish I had been better informed when I called the first time. Oh well, live and learn.

I specifically need Boardwalk as I already have a one bedroom booked there for that week. My DS and girlfriend are joining me for only two nights there before we will all move off site to a 3 bedroom timeshare. I thought it would be a great surprise for them to get their own room and not have to do the sleeper sofa.

Plus I had this whole brainstorm idea that actually precipitated the whole issue. I had really wanted to let them have the experience of the DP but obviously it would be foolish to add them on to MY week, since they wouldn't be there until the very end. I sure as heck am not gonna pay for 7 days and have them there for only 2! So I thought if they had the studio, I could do the DP for them those two days and let them experience the whole dining experience at the places we usually avoid due to the high $$.

Keep your fingers crossed for me big time, as I have Le Celier and the Coral Reef already reserved.

I think your chances are very good. I got on a waitlist last month for the wed and thurs of the week previous to yours (the 17th and 18th). I was on for BWV studio standard view. The nights came in in 2 weeks! But we decided to upgrade and stay in a 1 bedroom standard view for those 2 nights.

But yes, I would call back and make sure you on the waitlist and also be sure to waitlist each night individually. That is what I did and they came in together. Good luck!

Thanks! That is good to know. :cool1:

And you know, I don't know if she did the nights individual or together. One more thing I have no idea about.

Hi Winjos! Can u believe I called the same day 11/14 for the SAME dates?? I just checked my DVC account and saw that my waitlist for a 2br at SSR was confirmed. I thought it was kind of wierd that a Sunday night of a holiday weekend was sold out.

See ya there!
