Wait List possible for 12/30-1/4?

This may be a crazy question....we suddenly have the ability to go over Christmas break. There is no availability showing. We are a party of five with a preference for wilderness lodge villas. What are the odds something will open up if we go on the waitlist?

I would guess zero for WLV, maybe one bedroom for OKW or AKL which can sleep 5 persons.

I pieced together our jan 1 - jan 4 stay in September with waitlists at BLT in a lake view- I was surprised it came through at that point considering the holidays... You can try - you jus never know- but to have the most success book whatever is available for whatever days are available(if anything at all) and try to waitlist what's left as single days- you will have more of a chance getting single days then the entire trip! Virtually zero. Anyone that was on the fence and couldn't go has already cancelled so they don't have their points in holding. Any cancellations now would be due to unexpected circumstances and would probably be last minute. Can it happen? Sure, but not very probable.

If you want to go, you should book a hotel with a same day cancellation clause if you can find one this time of year.

In the past, DVC has closed the waitlist 7 (or is it 10?) days before arrival. You might be better off checking availability online or even calling MS daily.

Something *might* open up for a day or two but if you waitlist the entire stay you will end up with nothing. Like someone said the waitlists cancel within 7 days anyway, so you need to be checking the member website like every hour on the hour heh

New Year's Eve is the single most in-demand night of the entire year. And as Doc pointed out, the waitlist no longer applies 7 days prior to arrival.

You might be able to piece something together from last minute cancellations if you check the website often. But it's doubtful that you'll get VWL...or even all 4/5 nights in the same resort/view.
