Wait list - good news/scary news

We'll be at BWV for our Dec. trip. When I first made the ressie, we only got a few days at BWV and were waitlisted for the rest (with a ressie at OKW just in case BWV didn't come through). Over the past couple months, DVC has called wo or three times to tell me that different days have come through. As of yesterday we only had one day remaining on the wait list. So last night DVC calls and says "your final day came through do you want the BWV ressie". Of course I said yes and as the conversation continues, she somehow mentions our "other room" at OKW. Come to find out that on the previous calls, when they gave me the BWV ressie, they were not cancelling the OKW ressie. Yikes! Not sure if this is my fault for not spelling it out for them (which I may have done but can't remember since it was months ago) but I just assumed they would cancel OKW (or at least ask if I wanted to). Luckily, we are still within the time frame that nothing happened to the points. I can't imagine if we had gotten there and had two ressies - wonder if they would have put them back in our account or if it would have been a huge battle. Anyway, the moral of the story is when your wait list comes through make sure they cancel the other reservations.

First - congrats on the waitlist!

And - everytime I call MS with some sort of room transaction, I always ask them what points are remaining - how many, what resort, what year. And I keep track of it all in my DVC program.

Thanks for the reminder. I always try and sum up each conversation with MS by syaing "Now, what points are where and what are they doing?" That way, especially if you have a sort of confusing thing like your multiple separate waitlist days, you can keep track of everything. Wouldn't want to lose one of those valuable DVC points!!!!!!

May I ask how long you were on the wait list and what time period you are going to be there in December?

I so want my waitlist to come through!!

Trampslady, we've been on the wait list since the 7 month mark. We're going Dec. 7-17. We initially got just the last three days. I asked them to call me if we got consecutive days going backward. Hope that makes sense. I didn't want them to call for just random single days because we'd have to keep moving. On the first call they said "we now have the 14, 13, 12th." I think this is why we ended up getting all the days. I think if we said "just call if they all come through" we may not have gotten it. This way even if we had only gotten some of the days we would have only had to change resorts once. Hope that works for youm too.

To disneydoll and kathleena, I feel about 99% sure that I told MS "OK so you're changing the ressie from OKW to BW right". That's usually what I do and that's why I was so surprised that the OKW ressie wasn't cancelled on any of the three calls. I can see myself forgetting once but I don't think I would have forgotten all three times. Anyway, no harm done and a good lesson for me. I'll definitely be making sure that they cancel the original ressie if I'm ever on the wait list again. The important thing is that we'll be at WDW for the holidays
