wait list for kids night out?

We tried to book kids night out for a few days in June, and were told they are on a brief wait list. However, the catch is we won't know if we get a sitter until sometime between the week before we need it and a couple of days before - and that's kind of a problem because we have to have a sitter and then it will be too late to find an alternative. Has anyone been waitlisted for KNO and then gotten a sitter? Is this common? I don't really know of any alternatives, the kids are 16 months old so we can't use the kids clubs that will still be open.
