but I decided against it. I have a Cat 9 booked and frankly, I don't feel like I can justify the extra $700 for a verandah. (Although it would be nice.) I am self-employed, therefore when I am off for the entire week, I don't get paid. My husband doesn't care what Cat we are in, but I can use that extra $$ for Flounder's, drinks, tips, and excursions.

Please reassure me that we will enjoy our Cat 9 and haven't just made a terrrible mistake. BTW, my DH and I are travelling with our two DD's (2 and 5).

Thanks, Jenny

No, you have not made a terrible mistake!

The first time we cruised we were in a Cat. 11 stateroom and it was perfectly fine. The only negative was that DH did not like not having a window. So, on our next cruise we booked a Cat. 9 (actually a 10 but a secret porthole room so it was the same as a 9) and it was wonderful! My only suggestion would be to make sure you get a cabin on Deck 2 and not Deck 1. The portholes in the Deck 2 cabins are massive and you will have a terrific view. The Deck 1 Cat. 9 cabins have 2 portholes that are much smaller. If your kids are like mine they will love sitting in the window and watching the world go by!

Have a great time!

No mistake. We love the category 9's! The verandahs are nice, but we also like to spend our money on something else. Since the category 9 is the same size as the category 6 on Disney, we don't feel we're missing too much by skipping the verandah.

Michele's suggestion about deck two is a good one. We've always been on deck two and love the big windows. I don't think the two smaller windows in the deck 1 cat 9's would be the same.

Have a great time on your cruise!

Verandah's come in handy most for us when our DDs take naps. That Caribbean sun makes kids very tired. During those times, one of us had to be there and it was nice to be able to read a book on the verandah. We also enjoyed having morning coffee there. Was it a necessity though??? NO. Our great memories from our cruise had nothing to do with the verandah. It was a nice extra and I will keep getting cabins with verandahs so long as I can afford them, but wouldn't hesitate to cruise without one. The cruise is a blast and you will have a great time!!!!!:)

Thanks for all your replies.

Casey's mom - I had the same idea about the verandah and naps, but my girls are both heavy sleepers, so it will work out okay. (Plus, my DH's idea of vacation is naps, naps, food, naps! He can stay with the girls while they nap!)
