Wait list came through!

I called yesterday about something totally unrelated, and as an aside, asked about my waitlist. The lady said they had matched with a preferred view at Boardalk for both days. And this was only like about a week after I had waitlisted.

But.........why hadn't they called me? I was on the call list, not the automatic confirm list. Hmmmm. Maybe if I hadn't called I wouldn't have been matched? What is up with that?

Anyway, now I am all set.

Congrats Cindi!! I love the waitlist, but I too posted in another thread, that I am not receiving calls when they match. I know they only call in batches, but i lost a 1 Bedroom over NYE at SSR because no one called me and then when i called for something unrelated, they started the clock on my waitlist (Had more than one come thru, informed about 1 not the other but they started the 24 hours for both).

Same thing happened to me. I called at 31 days out just to check, and we magically got a match. It was about 4:00 on a Monday. I was thrilled to get what we wanted, but I also wonder if I would have received a call.

Same thing happened to me. Was calling about availability some where else, was put on hold and when he came back said my wait list had come through. I wonder if they hold the rooms and get around to call when they get around to it?

Thanks everyone. I am also very happy the wait list came through. It was my first try at it, and I had figured I waited too long to make a request.

Call me the skeptic, but I still wonder if I hadn't called about something unrelated if I would be celebrating right now.

I am also surprised that something opened up this late. Is that the norm that people actually cancel out? Isn't that the only way something would open up?

I don't think you would be celebrating if you hadn't called.

This has happened to me several times. Luckily, I've been pleased with the waitlist but, only because I call MS from time to time to check if the villa we need has become available. At first I believed MS when they stated they intended to call me later in the day to inform me the waitlist had cleared. I don't buy it anymore. What you describe is consistent with what other posters have reported as well.

Either we're all very lucky to call exactly on the day the waitlist clears or the procedures they employ to inform members is flawed in some way. I have no confidence in the waitlist unless I call once or twice a week to check for myself.

If you hadn't called you would have never known. Another example of the "great" service we receive as members.

Just like the "lists" for adding on points at sold out resorts.

Keep calling folks or you'll be out. Those lists are a joke. If someone calls asking about the waitlist they will be given the room ahead of someone on the list for months ahead of them.

We've always chosen the automatic reservation. When something becomes available they book it. We check online every few days and notice when the reservation posts. We've never set it up that they call us.

My waitlist came through this week for Dec 27th - Jan 2nd. The first part they called the last two days, I just happened to call today and they told me I matched. Don't know if they were going to call or not but I'm glad it worked out.

i called Monday to add a day to my reservation and while on the phone was told there was a 1 BR available for NYE - I was waitlisted for that and said - yes cancel my 2BR and leave me on the waitlist for a studio for NYE please. Yes I am an optimistic person. Today Tuesday - I get the call that my waitlist for a 1 BR for 12/31 and 1/1/ has come through so at least I know they would have called. I explain that I was offered and took the 1BR for NYE on Monday but am really looking for a studio (any resort) I originally had a 2 BR for 12/21/ and 1/1 and then my group went from 4 to 2 so decided I would take any smaller unit if it became available. - am I still on the waitlist for that- (original waitlist was for any 1BR or studio for 12/31 - and 1/1 - she made sure it is was modified to leave only the studio request for the next week or so until we hit that 7 day mark after asking if I thought the CM from the day before had understood my request. I have had nothing but good results lately calling MS and getting calls when my waitlists have come through. I would have done automatic but I am using borrowed points and needed to cancel the 2 BR before booking the smaller units.

hopefully they will call if something comes through as i don't have any excuses for calling them between now and then.

Must be luck of the day, I always get call for waite list. I set it up to be called, not auto list.
