I thought I could request where I wanted to stay at the hotels....ie which decade 50's, 70's, ETC.....but according to Dinsy.com they charge you for the **preferrred room rate***---what does that mean???? Because I PREFER to be on the bottom floor - near the busses - in the playdough building they are gonna charge me an EXTRA $53.52!?!?!? :earseek: SURELY it doesn't mean THAT!?!?
What about if we request to have all our rooms together does that count????

You are better off asking this on the resorts board. But the values do have what they call "preferred views". Which really is a preferred building. Disney charges an extra $10 (+tax) per night for rooms in the preferred buildimgs. These are the buildings guests almost always request since those are the closest to the main building (food, eats, lobby, store and busses).

There is a premium room charge at Pop.

I think ours was like $80 for 7 days but I got it anyway b/c I didnt want to be stuck way far away from everything!!!!

No no no no no :) Preferred rooms are a location in the resort. Like at Pop they are the 60's buildings since they are the closest to the Lobby, Food Court, buses and main pool. You can request anything on your reservation (which decade, which floor etc.) for free (except 60's building unless you want to pay $10 more a night) and they may put you there. Hope that clears things up for you :)

I think at Pop the 60's building is the preferred building, all the values and I think the moderates have preferred buildings. They are the ones closest to the main building, etc.

If you got that at disney.com, there is a box somewhere to update the info, it should allow you to select a "standard" room.

I'm going to move this to our resorts board, for you.

You can request the section, but it won't be guarnteed. Premium rooms at POP are the 60's buildings.

I've always requested and have never received (which is fine because I understand that it's not guaranteed). I'm just not a lucky person and I'm not persistent so I end up getting what they give. I would be willing to pay more for a specific location (more specific than Disney's version of locations), however. But alas, it's just not meant to be!

When I called to make a last minute reservation for the beginning of April, the CM automatically told me I would be in a preferred room in the 60's building.. After talking on the phone with another DISer here I tossed around the idea of changing to another building, but having never been at Pop before I was a little uneasy about the walking distances involved.. (My sister was due to join me and she has some difficulty with walking due to post-polio syndrome..)

Once I arrived and saw how spread out things were I was very glad that I kept the preferred room.. My sister can be very stubborn at times and I knew she wouldn't even consider using a wheelchair in the parks so any steps I could save her was well worth the money.. We were very pleased with the location and it made it really easy to just zip in and out of "Everything Pop".. :flower:

Your luck is mine too. Out of all our stays, only once did I get the section I requested.

I think the playdough building is in the 60's, isn't it? So if that's what you requested, that's why they have the extra charge.

I was at POP in May and requested top floor, 50's or 70's section, close to the lake. I got third floor, building 1 (Lady Building), in the 50's, a corner room just next to the stairwell, closest to Everything POP. It was perfect. Using the stairwell I was only a couple of minutes fom the main building. I was closer than most people who were in the 60s Preferred building were and was in a very quiet area (because most people with kids (strollers) used the elevator and so never came close to my room since it was on the end next to the stairwell. Standing in my door I could see both the bowling pin pool in the 50's and the hippy dippy pool in the 60's, but was far enough away that I never heard any pool noise. It was great. It was room #1312, by the way.

OH!!! SO it doesn't mean that because I ask for a specific floor that I'd be charged! NOW I see...we want the bottom floor just 'cause it's easier. AND I asked for the 50's 'cause dd had a 50's b'day party she'd re;ate a little to the 50's - but it doesn't really matter - I just asked 'cause I thought I could w/out a charge.

As far as getting 3 rooms together - as long as they aren't in the 60's building we should be ok right - -0no extra charge there right?

When we stayed at MUsic a few weeks ago we were in the couuntry building (bbots) & it was a long way to everywhere BUT we just drove wvey a.m. to the busses - it was really nice when we were worn out jusst to hop inthe van & drive back tothe room & not have to walk anywhere (& when both kiddos were asleep!)

I believe the extra charge is $12, not $10.

Room locations are always req. not guar., aside from rm cat. stipulations. When you travel in a group, the room prox. to one another is still a req. not a guar. the only times connecting rooms are guaranteed are those rare situations where children so outnumber parents that there is no adult for one of the rooms.
