Wailulu

So I have two nights for dinner at WDW on the 23rd and 24th of January - and having just discovered this relatively new restaurant, I think it would be perfect for my group (me, my parents, brother, 2 nephews).

I had dinner at the Polynesian a year or so ago, and it’s beautiful - the restaurant itself looks and sounds lovely. I want us to have a unique experience, and this is it, I think.

I just have a few questions:

1) Of course we would love to see the fireworks…is the best place to see them in the restaurant or on the beach?

Last time I went to California Grill, a couple of years ago, I believe we went outside ok some kind of bridge …Is there something similar at Wailulu or do we just view the fireworks from the table?

If we make the ADR via the app, is there a way to request an especially good table for viewing?

There is plenty of room outside the restaurant, if you can’t see them from your seats or the timing is off.
Maybe get some drinks from the bar and find a space outside.

I had the pork chop. It was tasty, but very salty. Others got the burger and they enjoyed it.
We also got the crispy chicken wings and garlic shrimp and both were good.

We just returned from a week staying at Poly. We went to Wailulu 3 times, once sat at a walk-up table in the outdoor bar area and 2 times we had a reservation in the restaurant. All 3 times we were there during fireworks and had a great view each time. We had an inside table one night, but right by the window with a perfect view. The other 2 nights we were outdoors and had a lovely view. It was also very easy to walk down toward beach area if necessary.

We have tried most of the apps, all very good. Wings and ahi tuna crisps were my favorites. Also tried the burger and the poke bowl. I would 100% order both again.

I have been to Wailulu twice, once for cocktails the other for lunch. I loved the sweet potato hummus and the tuna poke bowl. I can't wait to be back in March to have my husband try the burger! I don't eat red meat, but I hear it's an amazing burger!

What a great review - glad you had a wonderful time!

Right now they only have 9:20pm available, which is too late for me…but I’m going to keep checking in hopes of cancellations

Any experience on just walking up for table in the outside bar area ? Crowded about 2-4 in the afternoon? Serve food there? Shady or umbrellas?

We were there last week and DH had the burger and raved about it. I had the tofu poke bowl which I really enjoyed.
