Wailulu Bar & Grill

I’ve only ever seen the words “grab and go” and similar in the details to date, I think, although someone fact check me as I’m going from memory. Not sure I’ve seen anything that would have suggested something more elevated like Sanaa.
Yes, agreed. I just assumed that to mean there would be hot food you could "grab and go" like any quick service restaurant. I may have misinterpreted it because I knew lunch and dinner would be sit down service whereas breakfast was "take out" or "grab and go" - never thought this meant no hot breakfast food altogether.

Correct only Grab & Go was all that was discussed due to the other breakfast options locally available even if some guests wanted a more full service offering in the Island Tower. Sanaa at AKL is more nuanced since it 5+ minutes to other morning dining options at Jambo House.

I don't like the direction they went but I do understand why it is starting that way. As with many things Disney, it is subject to change at any time.

It’s not “at Wailulu” but there are two Freestyle machines at a refill station to the left of the outdoor bar area next to the pool restrooms. So just a few steps away.

Sorry if you already know that.
Oh my memory must be failing, now I remember someone posted a pic of the machines a while back. Thank you!

Well they stuck for me since I could not figure out why they were there against that wall. The Freestyle machines seemed out of place. I hope they work out better than the ones at the BC that they took out a few years ago and went back to the regular Fountain setup.

I think they put them there for easy access from the pool area. At least that's how I read it when looking at the project plans and recent photos.

Wonder where you get the coffee if you bought a resort mug? At Wailulu?

I would guess Wailulu at 7 AM or later daily or Captain Cooks 7 AM - 12 AM or the Oasis Pool Bar (hours vary).

ETA: Correct hours based on the signage at Wailulu and add Oasis bar.

Guess we will find out! I was thinking Wailulu, too (once open) but in a video I saw, there didn't seem to be a coffee station. They may not have shown it.

We just checked into the Polynesian Tower today for the Marathon Weekend and had dinner at Wailulu. Have to say it was excellent. One of our best meals at Disney lately.

We started with the Misubi which is made with spam. It was delicious:

I had the Grilled Fish of the day and it was amazing. Cannot overstate just how good it was:

My wife had the chicken poke bowl and it was excellent too:

For desert we had the chocolate cake which was very good.

It was also a very cozy relaxing place to eat with views of the lake. We will probably eat here again this trip.

Thanks for the report.

Question, though: did the "chicken poke bowl" have chicken and poke together? By your picture, it just looks like chicken (which isn't poke).

The menu describes it as Sushi-style Rice, Pickled Cucumbers, Vegetables, Spicy Poke Sauce, Macadamia Nuts with Grilled Teriyaki Chicken. I think they're calling it poke due to the sauce. They also have a tofu poke bowl. Neither includes fish. They all look delicious!
