WAH- My name!

Hey. As I signed into VMK today, I was prompted that I must change my screen name. I have had this name since I began playing, which I think was two weeks after VMK opened! Why would I be required to change my name now? I saw a girl with the name acidtrip the other day! What could be offensive about Tolkienseven? Could it be because I applied to be a CL and had to submit a different e-mail address so AOL wouldn't block the questionnaire?

Very sad.

I would bet it is because seven is part of the name. You know you can't type numbers but with that as part of your name you would be able to type your name as a number. Does that make sense. I need more coffee. LOL

Then why approve it initially? It's been two months! I know it's just a game, but I am attached to my name. Sigh. Bummer.

Okay, I know of others with numbers in their names who have also been forced to change, xfan342 for one.

And last night, (did anybody else get this??) pixiepal and I BOTH got warnings about using the dictionary to say numbers...

and on another fansite many many MANY others lamented the same fact.

Anybody else?

Looks to me like somebody decided to give out personal info (using numbers) and has ruined it for everybody. arg.

When I Was Crashed On VMK My Name was "WDL Boy" then it had to be changed! Dozens of names I thought of didnt work!But FINALLY IT APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!! Im Now "Jackoman"!!!!! Yay! Hugs To VMK Staff!! LOL

That stinks! I'm sorry you have to change your name. I would definitly say it was due to it having a number in it.

I've been wondering if that's going to happen to me too.
My VMK id is MommyKate (which I've had since beta!), but with all this be my mummy/daddy/kid thing that's going on now in vmk, I wouldn't be surprised if I was told to change my name. There's the age/identifying thing with it too, they don't like people saying they are in college, a teacher..etc.

I am getting nervous about saying anything with a number online - I don't want to get banned!

Another irony - I was checking the top scores for Jungle Cruise at the VMK Home page this AM and I was #17 - but as Guest 401455! I finally make top 20 for the day and I am anonymous! (Of course, you'd need a magnifying glass to see it - I can't make it bigger than a thumbnail!)

I should have chosen a new screen name that had "tolkien" in it, but I went with DocHT, which is who I am in real life.
