I'm 36 years old for the love!!!!! Plus I've had them before (of course that was in the early 80s).

Found out that I have a severe crossbite which is causing my teeth to grind which is in turn causing my bone to errode. So it's either braces or lose the teeth. Lovely.

Any other adults here with braces?

Jenny

Hi!
I got my braces off in January right before I turned 29. I wore them 19 months.
Was it crappy? Yes.
Would I do it again? Yes.

Good luck!
Oh, just wanted to add that NOTHING would be worth losing teeth!! Yuck. Braces are far better then that alternative. :teeth:

I get my invisiligns next week! I wear a night guard but forgot it one weekend and went out of town. I came back with a busted crown! I grind and clench so bad, it's awful. So, I'm going to fix my bite (and straighten my teeth, yeah!) and I need to go for acupuncture to make sure I really break my habit of grinding at night. The thing is, when I was 13 or 14 my dentist told my mother I needed braces. My stepfather told me, very loudly, that I was too #$%^ing ugly for braces. It's really been an issue, and don't get me wrong, my teeth aren't awful - just a little crooked. But mentally it's hard to deal with. Sheesh, it's no wonder I grind my teeth!

ME!! I am 45 years old and I have orthodontic braces. I have had them for just over 2 years.
It is amazing how having my teeth fixed, and they weren't "crooked" they were more of a crossbite and slight overbite, has changed my facial structure. I have cheekbones and a chin now! woo who!! :)

Good Luck!!

OOH.....now cheekbones and a chin are a good thing - maybe they can whiten them for me while they're at it!! haha

Jenny :)

My sister is 27 and just went today to get the molds done for hers. Unfortunately for her, she's not a candidate for Invisalign, so she's getting the good old fashioned metal ones - but the technology nowadays is great.

I do I do!! I am presently 39 and have had them on now for about 2 months. I was supposed to have them when I was younger but my parents could not afford them. I figured alot of women my age get face lifts, botox and other bodily enhancements ;) so I figured I would get braces :cool1: I am supposed to have them for 12 to 15 months and mine are the good old fashioned metal :teeth: but I am so excited to see the end product that they do not bother me!

The funny part is that my dd who is 8 and all of her friends now refer to me as the "cool" mom and my ds who is 5 wants braces (lets hope that I am the only one in the family that will need them). Don't worry about you will be fine!!

I just got my braces off. I am a mid-30's adult, and I had my braces for three years and two months (and the lovely elastics, too!). Before braces, I had to have an awful surgery where they pulled 8 healthy teeth, as it was the only way to get my teeth to fit in my mouth. So it's been a LONG, painful trip, but WORTH everything!!!! :teeth:

I admit 100 billion percent that I got braces so I can look better. I could have cared less about my teeth's health - I wanted the smile that everyone else already has! But regardless of the reason, braces were the best thing I ever did for myself. :)

I'm 41. I don't have them yet, but I am thinking about it. I will go in for a consult, ans whether or not I get them depends on the outcome. If I have to have jaw surgery (my sis was told she would ahve to have it), then I won't do it.

I just changed dental ins plans at work to one that pays 50% (up to $500/yr) for adult orthodontia. I'm trying to wait a little while to get started since my new year starts Jan 1 so I have to pay as little as possible out of pocket this year. Besides, I had some hospital/doc bills to pay (finished this month) and I want to save up a little more so I can pay cash for the braces.
